Intake is still stock, going to do Stage 2 first before I mess with anything else in the engine bay.

Crazy, I really expected there to be more people with non-stock intake vs. stock intakes... I don't mean that in a good OR bad way, just something I was curious about.

I have stock intake and its going to stay that way until someone gives me a reason other than it looks or sounds cool. I have asked this question about a thousand times and never have I once heard any reasonable proof to change the factory stock out. I have a K&N drop in filter and that is all I am messing with until somebody gives me a better reason to buy one. $280 for something that doesn't increase performance doesn't sound like a deal to me. Maybe after I get a stage kit of some sort and some tuning, will that be a justified mod. JMO.

I can think of a couple of reasons not to use th K & N drop in....

Oil on the MAF sensor has been a reported problem.

I don't think the K & N does as good of a job filtering the air as the stock filter. As I see it the trade off is a few HP for more engine wear due to additional dirt getting in.

This is getting quite unfunny now. AEM does not recommend removing the stock air box, never have and anyone that does so are not following the instructions that come with the product. So saying that when some one rips off the air box and hangs a high flow is the same thing as a AEM intake is not accurate and is misleading in regards to what the AEM product is and how it is installed. Further more, it gives the person that did the ghetto mod the idea that they are doing the same thing that a major aftermarket manufacture is doing and thus leads to some level of credibility for that junk, ghetto intake mod.

True, that's why you have to be careful when you oil it. I haven't had to yet but I will in about 15,000 miles. I will be sure to be careful. I haven't gotten any codes yet and don't want any.
