^lol...i just passed my welding test on the plasma cutter tonight
(i can now cut aluminum, 304 SS, and steel up to 3/8" thick)

its not the top thats the major heavy part. its the convertible motor, and all the extra chasis stiffening (due to it not having a roof...).

What does you think I is? Ignant?

I commented nothing on the drivetrain, the comment I made was toward weight you numbnuts.

and to comment on the power loss issue, I'm going to say its a leaking wastegate at fault. The extra boost is just pushing it open, thats why your loosing it at high RPM's only.

^lol...i thought you were saying it was slo cause it was heavy...

its the wastegate actuator that controlls the wastegate, and the wastegate actuator is controlled by the ECU with the boost solenoid. People put Manual Boost Controllers (MBC's) to trick teh actuator into allowing more boost by staying shut. most actuators are set to open the wastegate at 14psi, so the MBC takes the 23psi, and leaks off a bit of pressure to fool the actuator from opening. But, The ecu can controll it better for partial boost and partial throttle applications...

I've heard of this RWD concept.. they should research that for drag racing.. , sorry I had to after the weight thing between Alpha/Socal

actually ALL the wight is in the stiffenng, regardless of auto top or not.

To create stiffness in the frame alone (co planer) it will take exponentiall more mass than if it were not co planer (stiffening in the roof) the farther apart the stiffening is, the stronger it is, so to keep it strong when its all within 12" of itself takes A LOT of stiffening

yea, its like for example, you take a piece of flat cardboard, and see how easily it twists and bends, back and forth. then take another piece of cardboard and make a domed 'roof' and attach it securely to the cardboard, and it becomes much harder to twist and bend.

Being a convertible, it has to have quite a bit more stiffening on the chasis to prevent that bending and flexing (cause it has no roof), hence how heavy it is.
