Street car day at the drag strip (GA)

Hey folks, I'm Bobby (thank you Captain Obvoius) from the SRT forums. I am trying to get a "street car" day at the drag strip going. I know drag racing is not everyone's "cup of tea " however, it is something everyone can do, cheaply. So here's the scoop so far.
What we are trying to do is get a "street" car day at the track. You have to drive it in to run it. In other words, street legal. The event will most likely be held at Twiggs just outside of Macon. Tentatively we are looking at mid Feb. to mid March. We are working out details on cost, but obviously the more that attend the cheaper it will be. I am working on a few sponsors for the event to make it even cheaper or dare I say, free to race. The racing format will be basically challenge whomever you want and run 'em. So if you are interested in attending, (not necessarily racing) please reply to this thread so I can guage intrest and get the ball rolling a little faster on this thing.

Just got done talking to the track manager from Twiggs. A street car day at the track is a go!!!! Nothing is definate yet but I will have all the specifics by tomorrow evening. Here is what is penciled in... We are looking at a weekend in mid February. Cost will be 5-10 dollars to get in the gate and 10 dollars to run. If this thing is succussful Twiggs will institute a street car day once a month with organized races and prizes. I will let you all know tomorrow evening about the specifics and rules for this event. Start telling your friends about this even if they do not drag race. It is a good way for all of us street car owners to get together and shoot the bull. Remember this is a day just for us, no playing second fiddle to the boys that trailer it in.

I also need a definate count on who is interested in attending. This is not a commitment by you. Just my way of seeing how many might attend.

Ok here is the final update.

Sunday march 26th at Macon National Dragway (Twiggs) will be a street car shootout. All cars will be divided in to classes and trophies will be given for those classes. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. and racing will begin about noon. Prices will be $10.00 for spectators and $25.00 to race.

Here are the rules:

Street legal cars only. If you trailer your car in, it will be subject to strict inspection.
DOT certified tires only. No slicks will be allowed. Drag radials are OK.
Everyone is subject to Macon National Dragway's track rules on conduct and safety.
If you drive an open top car you will be required to wear a helmet no matter how "slow" your car runs
Officials will place you in a class based on their judgement of your car. Class placement is not subject to arguement.
Here are the classes:

Street Stock Class: The car has no aftermarket power adders such as aftermarket turbos, superchargers, or nitrous. If it came with these from the factory it is OK to run in this class. Car must have factory internals. Minor bolt ons like cold air or short ram intakes, aftermarket exaust, fuel rails, ect. are OK for this class.
Hot Street Class: The car is allowed one power additive such as; aftermarket turbo, supercharger, or nitrous. The car is also allowed to have upgraded internals.
Unlimited Class: Do whatever you want to the car. As long as it can be "legally" driven in. You can run it in this class.
Classes may change depending on attendance.

This event is open to all street cars. So bring them on down.

There will also be T-N-T runs and Grudge Match Races.
