Okay, I just HAD to get that posted. Here is the details...first of all, those of you who are buying the program...good luck! Scott Cook from Intense called me yesterday asking if I was available today...umm...duh! First tuning with HP Tuners software, any plans can be rearranged!

So me and my fiance met up with Scott in Columbus at the place they do their dyno tuning. I get there and the my PCM wasn't able to be read by the laptop...solution? Scott had one from a junk yard that worked for him last night so he had it switched out in a matter of seconds. I had to perform the security lock out procedure and then do the case learn procedure. The case learn can be performed at a dealership for cheap, or anywhere with the proper tool which will turn off the "check engine" light.

Scott tunes and flashes PCMs all the time for Grand Prix's so he is well knowledgeable with HP Tuner software. We got my car on the dyno, did the boost bypass mod and was starting off with 235.8 peak horsepower and 18psi holding strong. The A/F was 9:1 at 80mph!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!

Okay so all I have is the Stage 3 kit and thats it...performance wise. Which is what Scott was looking for because the PCM flashing will replace the MAF-T first of all with the Stage 3 kit.

Scott was making SMALL changes to the A/F and next thing we know its up to the 13:1 ratio. He was amazed with how touchy the system was. Around pull 20 we finally got the A/F ratio around where he wanted. His goal was 11.8:1, but we settled with a nice 11.5 flat through the whole thing from 55mph-98 where we cut it off.

There is SO much more he wants to do, but after spending a long time just trying to get the A/F to even out, he was tired and wanted some time to play around with it a bit. Seeing he only had it a couple hours I understood. I will be heading up there and getting more tuning done next week or so...whenever it is, I can't wait to get there and see what he can really do.

He also set the rev limiter of course to 7000rpm...matter of seconds really. What did we end up with? Peak gain was only get 3 extra hp...for now, don't forget. His list of stuff was at the end of where the real power would come out. The first things he wanted to accomplish was to get the engine running good. Once he read the initial PCM, the A/F graph from the factory is hellacious!! What he really did perfect was the mid range...a gain of 45hp!!!! Around 77mph it read 175hp at the baseline...the final run he had accomplished 220hp at the same point.

I tested out the midrange power on my way home. First riding around 40mph in 3rd on the on ramp I dropped into second and the front wheels didn't just pull forward, they literally jumped. So heading home, there was a guy in a Audi TT...he came flying up from behind with his girl in the car. I was cruising in 5th going 70 and he was flying so when he was next to me...still flying past, I drop it into fourth so by the time I drop it he is half a length ahead. I know I know, only 4th but it was to test the midrange...by the time we were around 120mph he was 3 car lengths behind.

The 5 minutes to read and write the calibration can seem like a long time....

I haven't wrote any config to my car yet. Unfortunetly I am visiting relatives so I didn't want to muck with the car until I had some time.

So what do you guys think? If the guys at Intense are able to tune mine or someone's car where it's pushing 250+ with ONLY their stage kit it will be giving the GM kit a good run for the money?
