Just a question???

Rather than hit and miss tuning. Why not take the car to a Tuner guru and have them do all the tuning to it? Stage kits or what have you? Just wondering...

True. But I would go nuts if my car went into limp mode as many times as I have seen here.lol. I know Viagra for superchargers!

thats the point you learn why you drop limp mode and tune it out. This way you can get rid of codes, learn to add power with fuels, spark curves, boost values, hell you can get fancy with it.

Like spooner you can make a 100 octane tune so when the car senses the fuel its balls to the wall power. Then if he was creative a 87 tune that keeps boost from rising over say 10 and get excellent milage out of it. So a few hours before track day a tank of 100 and the car will adapt to that table and your off.

What's hit or miss tuning? Intense is dong some pretty good professional tuning right now, consdering the ability to do so has only existed for about 4 weeks now. I'd love to take you for a ride in my car with the race tune on it...

Get out of my head!!!! The 87 Octane tune starts tonight actually!

It's hard to set it up so the car 'senses' the octane. It does have two spark maps, but the low octane is like backup system, in case you get bad gas or whatnot. However, I've not tested how it would adapt to just tossing 94 in the car with the 100 octane tune. It SHOULD drop to the low map, but as you can imagnie, I'm hesitant to try. The 45 seconds it takes to reflash is acceptable to me.

A few reasons:

1. One pro tune could cost as much as the HPT software, and almost every mod is going to require a retune.
2. There aren't a whole lotta shops that are familar w/ the LSJ.
3. I like knowing what was done, how it was done, and how to alter it to suit my needs.

I wouldn't really call what we're doing "hit or miss." It's a new product w/ new possibilities, so we're testing the limits. Intense did the same thing when they started tuning w/ HPT.

There's a LOT of thought and discussion going on w/ these modifications that you're not seeing on the forums.

Exactly. The VCM scanner (not the Editor) software is absolutely amazing. I have spent hours just analyzing logs to figure out where I need to add/remove fuel and spark, plus I have an excel sheet that I wrote that will calculate your quarter mile time as a baseline to do WOT runs (I use the 40 to 100 roll to compinsate for launching inconsistancies).

If you are monitoring the right PID's you can see exactly where there is room for improvement and then see the results of what you did.

That and I don't think that you guys who have used it up here have had a prob with going limp have you? I don't recall hearing it from you guys anyways.
