04 vs. 05: Why all the differences?

I was looking at Ron's car tonight, and he has a lot of minor differences. We're both on the latest flashes.

Why would GM make all these changes to the 05, but not the 04?

I belive its because 04 was the first model that came out and due to the fact of just releasign a new generation of 2.0 supercharged they learned alot from the 04 and fix the 05 and 06 alot better no matter how many times u take it to the shop what ever the factory does is way better than any mechanic will do for your car mostly all recalls ,cam position sensor intercooler wires, fuel feed assembly & a bunch more were already repaired by factory on 05,06 models. I have had a hard time trying to keep up to 06 redline but im there and my way of thinking is that if im stock & I dont beat a stock 06 I am not doing no stage kit pulley or any performance parts cause it think its gay that u have a bunch of shit done and a 06 redline stay half way down your door (not saying any names here lol)

Ps. Isuck at grammer dont hate

What??? If you can't beat an '06, then you're not going to mod anything? What kinda sense does that make? By that token, if I cant beat an 06 Corvette with my 77 then I'm not going to mod it anymore... since it's gay that they made improvements... Yes I know it's 30 years, but the logic is the same.

Oddly enough MOST of the software changes are the same with they're staged.

They put the 04's out there as a test for GM's cobalt baby and learned what the screwed up and changed it for the new years.

Spooner dosent it make more sence to just trade in my 04 and get an 06 and do mods instead of spending hundreds on the 04 and never be able to beat an 06 with mods. I would just trade the 04 and fix up the 06 .Sorry u think different but i do think is gay that an 06 with similar mods will leave u in the dust

Not spooner but if you can afford the difference in what they cost and what you owe then go for it.On the other part it is just progress you get that on every thing you buy,

Just flash it with HP then there won't be any differences.

I have a stock '04 and have never had any problems with newer stock RL or SS/Sc's on the street or track.

If you just spent the money you would lose by doing that, your car could be WAY faster than an '06. What your saying is just rediculous.

Right. That's what has me confused. 04s and 05s are all using the same parts (minus the fuel rail cover) and they're even using the same staged tune. So why would the latest versions of the stock calibrations be different? It just seems like more work.

If I was as broke as GM, I'd be making one calib for all the cars.

Soon as my car comes back from the stealership, I'm going to throw Ron's calib on my car and see if I can feel any difference.

BTW.... I checked out his traction bars. Those things are beefy!
