General VSS Pulses per

What do these differences mean?

04 GM Stage 1 vs 05 GM Stage 1 - WTF?
Rev: 30.0000 vs. 85.0000 p/rev
Miles: 24237 vs. 68671 ppm

What does this mean, and why are they different btw the 04/05?

Well, the ratios are bertter damn near identicle, so vss pules per mile are the same for both vehichles.

THat's all I got...

well, it can figure out how many miles to add to your odemter, and what speed your going, buyt pulses a second...

some one who is synicle could..... make a new overlay for ther speedometer, and change there VSS ratio, so you only rack up 1/2 as many miles as you have gone. This would throw off the spedometer, thts why youd need a new over lay

it's illegal, so that idea didnt come form me

iirc the cobalt speed sensor is 85 pulses per rev, while ours is only 30. The physical sensors are different.

I loaded a redline stage tune on a friend of mine's cobalt and didn't change that value, and he hit the rev limiter (158mph) in second gear going about 55. He has a pic of his speedo buried as his background pic on his cell.

The 04 Red Line has a different VSS than the rest. It must be better because the Cobalt Cup cars run our VSS, not their's. Just knowing how things work @ GM, I would guess they found a cheaper VSS and since plans were to sell a shitload of Cobalt SS/SCs, we('04 Red Lines) have the good ones and everyone else has the econo version. Same way our axels are beefier than the Cobalts. Their's neck down at the CV joint, our's maintain the same dia the whole way, and that is where the Cobalt axels are snapping.

what do you define better as? more accurate? any reason they would prefer one sensor over the other on the Cup car?

Thats good news to my ears, now I don't care one bit about getting the 400hp rated axles...just waiting for someone to release 500 or 600.
