WoW! Very interesting read. You have inspired me to buy HPTuners! What plugs, injectors, and pulley size do you suggest running when initially starting out for good baseline readings? What would you suggest doing when first using this program?

your stock ones...see what happens when you add timing or when you go with higher octane gas. Experiment with the torque management and everyday driving. Watch your changes effect your LTFT (long term fuel trim) and then watch your gas mileage get much better. Watch how your a/c effects the IAT2 temps on the highway and in city traffic. I can go on and on with what to change.
Pick up a few books first.
How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems - Hartman (ISBN 0-7603-1582-5)
Haynes High-performance tuning - Engine Management - Walker (ISBN 1-85960-835-3)
I also have
Engine Builders Handbook - Monroe (ISBN 1-55788-245-2)
HPBooks Auto Math Handbook - Lawlor (ISBN 1-55788-020-4)

I traded a book of chevrolet engines to someone for these last 2. Didn't help me much to keep the engine book since it was all V-8's.

How much to buy HPTunners I might be interested in spliting the cost with someone with the know how to use it if they would give me step by step procedures on tunning my car so I could learn how to use it and not mess my ride up while learning.

about the tranny shift tq management, can u go more into details on this plz? zeroing the whole table out allows you to use more of ure 2nd gear by keeping power on the ground, i understand that much.

Can you customize each shift? WSFrasier is having troubles with his 1-2 shift in an '06 SS/SC with an intake, cat delete, and 2.5" pulley. Seems like clutch is slipping, but only seems to happen there. I know if you're clutch is toast, you should be able to hammer on it in any gear and see the tach raise w/o any speed increase. He ordered the new Exedy clutch already, but I'm starting to wonder if the clutch is really the problem or TQ management is

Yes, you can adjust each shift point.

I know this thread is old Sp00ner, but I am contemplating buying HP tuners, I have read the books, I just wanted to know what the main differences were between the stock 04 tune and the stage II GM tune and if you think there is any room to improve with my current mods and GM StageII??
