Most efficient data aquisition?

Okay, I'm planning ahead here. Eventually, I'm going to stage 2 my car, and possibly further. What I am planning is what kind of gauges I can use. I can get an interceptor, but the only thing I'd really use it for is pre/post air temps, and probably water temp. What about intercooler water temps? Does the OBDII keep track of that, or would I have to plumb in a temp sensor (to go with a bigger heat exchanger, right?) I'm thinking, I've got a boost gauge already, if I use the Interceptor for water and air temps, I could have two more gauges for intercooler temp and oil pressure. What kind of gauge could I get for the intercooler? Autometer makes them in several temp ranges. Anybody have a clue?

Of course, if I were to get into tuning myself, I'd probably get a wideband O2 and a EGT gauge. Still might go that route, just to learn how to do it. I totally understand the concepts behind it, just need to get my hands on one and play with it a bit. Also, I don't really like the pillar mounts (all the ricers have 'em for no good reason), but the one on top of the dash isn't bad. I wish there were a better place to put them. I guess I'll deal with that when I get the gauges.

Thoughts?

orr..... get HPTuners and log it all with your laptop.

intercooler temps are a little redundent fif you have IAT1 and IAT2. You can see hw well of a jo the aftercooler is doing byt he change in IAT2 in comparison to IAT1

HPT can data log endlessly (HDD willing) and show as many gauge outputs (as well as custom PIDs) as your heart desires

I'm guessing that it shows anything that OBDII shows, correct? What parameters does OBDII *not* show? Intercooler temp, maybe oil temp? I'm sure there's an oil pressure input, as something has to drive the "low oil" idiot light.

I could spend the $600 for HPT and get all of that, which would be worth it (plus the cost of the laptop or carputer). I could always return it to stock if I wanted to with HPT (you know, if I become blind or quadreplegic). Very tempting.

why do you want to know intercooler temp??

you can find out how effective it is by monitoring IAT1 vs IAT2.

No oil temp either, not that I know of though.

So let me get this straight, the Dashhawk will not work on the 2007 Ion Redline, it will only work on the 2.2 or 2.4 regular Ion.....is this correct?
