LC-1 help

Ive had an LC-1 on my car for quite some time. I have it hooked up to my Interceptor scan gauge and it works just fine. Now I want to be able to use the Innovate program logworks to log the air fuel ratio and completely get rid of the scan gauge. I want to be able to use Hptuners and read air fuel ratio at the same time. Now I went and bought a serial to USB cable to hook the output cable of the LC-1 to the computer, and everytime I turn the program on, it tells me, no serial port connected. Can any one help me as to why it wont read it? I dont think its hooked up wrong as my scan gauge reads it perfectly. Any and all help is appreciated!! Thanks!
Adam

Maybe driver error?
Personally i connected my wideband directly to hptuners thru the tuner box.
I have the pro version. But im very sure ive read on the shortbuss a way to log it as well with the basic version of hptuners as well.

Personally thats the route i would go.

But if your insistant on using log works, i would check the drivers for the asb to serial. asides from that, i dunno what to tell you. I get wierd issues with my laptop as well. Damn vista.

you know what. I had this same problem on my laptop. You need to go to the website for the manufacturer of your usb to serial cable. heres a good one:
http://sewelldirect.com/usbtoserial.asp
...and you download the driver for your cabel and Operating system.
Install teh driver, and it will work fine.

...but if you have vista... it will work whenever it feel's like working... which is what im dealing with right now...

OH... also, make sure you plug the plug labled "IN" with the supplied "MALE TERMINATOR" plug.

That was one of the reasons i couldnt get it to work, once.

Ok, maybe this is why I cant get it work. I thought you were supposed to use the OUT plug. So what all wires am I supposed to be using? I have the male terminator plug going into a USB cable that goes into my laptop. Is there another wire Im supposed to using?

uh, there are 2 cables. iirc, the cable labeled "OUT" goes to the laptop serial cable adapter thing, and plugs into the laptop. The terminator plug goes into the other cable labled "IN"...

...its written in your instruction manual, and also on the CD manual, also on teh INNOVATE website

Yea, ive scrolled through the instructions and you need a science degree to comprehend them. I just want the shit to work!!

So I guess I need to buy a cable for the IN. I was only trying to use the OUT. I bought a wire to plug into the OUT and into the USB on the computer, so now I need a serial plug that goes from the IN to the screw connector on the side of the computer. Correct?

^huh?... did you buy a used LC-1?

The entire LC-1, brand new, comes with that little black plug to plug in the "IN" plug. its called the "Terminator plug" in the manual.

It looks like a headphone plug, but with no wires attached.

I bought it new. I have the wire youre talking about. I thought you were saying I needed 2 wires for the IN and the OUT. I have plugged that into the IN but it still gives me the same error that I have with the OUT. Ill take another look at it when I get off work.

^lol... the wonders of communicating through text...

if you got all the correct plugs and wires, it is probably your usb/serial drivers...if its not the drivers, then the LC-1 is not working anymore.

I know the LC-1 is working cause my scan gauge is still picking everything up. I just want to get rid of the gauge and just use my computer.
