Want boost gauge to light with rest of cluster

I want to wire my boost gauge so it lights up when I turn on the headlamps to any setting (with the rest of my cluster). Is there a way to do this from inside the dash? If so, what wire or fuse should I look for? If not, what would be the best way of doing this?

Worst case, I was planning on tapping into the power line to the orange corner lights (I heard it's the brown wire?), but if there's an easier way I'd love to hear it.

Thanks.

there's gotta be a fuse for the instrument cluster or radio or hvac or something in the interior fusebox...

edit, the other easy way is to tap the taillight so you avoid running wires through the firewall.

lol, how do you have your gauges set up in the first place?

Anyway since I've already made fun of you here's your answer. Wire them into your hazard light switch that way they turn on with your lights and if you dim your cluster they will dim also.

I think I love you chicken. The 7.5 amp fuse labeled "Dash" seems to control the dash panel lights in the exact way I was looking for.

Alpha, I assume what you're suggesting would be a splice job?

along the side of the trunk, down the side of the seat, under the two kick panels, up through the dash. give it enough slack and you can stuff the wiring behind the carpeting along the sides of the trunk. practically invisible.

but the hazard switch is a good idea.

wire into the rheostat (dimmer switch) and it will turn on with all the other light's and dim when you want it to. that's how i wired up a tach into my first ranger. and it worked flawlessly

If the "Dash" fuse doesn't work how I'd like, I'll probably use whichever is easier to get to and hide between the rheostat and hazard lights. Seems like the rheostat would be since it's right below the a pillar.

Thanks all.

Not Necessarily. You could splice into in and use a butt connector like normal or if you want to be able to remove it later with no mess then you can take the pin out of the butt connector and twist the boost gauge wire around it and shove it back in. But that would be ghetto imo.

I bet you're a HUGE fan of butt connectors, eh Alpha?

But srsly, I splice with 16 gauge butt connectors (oversized tube = I jam both wires in and crimp). Just makes it easy, imo. I plan on using some extra wire just in case, so removal isn't a concern of mine.
