i should have rephrased the question, do i need one if the a/f ratio is gunna b adjusted and such, because i plan on a smaller pulley maybe bigger injectors and porting the supercharger

A - make sure you get the HPT pro, the regular doesnt have the plug in for a wideband
B - you can get a 02 sensor with a 5 plug pin to go in to the HPT pro box.

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lc1.php

There has been some discussion as to whether what the HPT box reads is 100% accurate for a few of the parameters.....

No you dont need one but it is recommended , there is other ways to read a/f but not alot of people know the correct way to do it , so i would just say take the hit and get a wide band. The first attempt someone made to tune my car my a.f was 14s then droped to 12s at around 6k and if i didnt have a wideband i would of blew my engine. ps you dont need to spend a extra 300 if you dont have it to get hp tuner pro i used the regular one just watch your wideband while you tune, the old fashion way.
