NEEDED: HPTuners Education Thread

My HPTuners order is coming in today. I've never tuned a thing in my life, and will mostly be using it to log (don't even know how that works) and do other people's flashes.

What would be nice, is if some experienced folks would come on in and tell me a little bit about the system, and some general ecotec tuning in general.

For example: When I install HPTuners into my car, How does it wire into the car to log? Do I/Can I drive around with my laptop hooked up and tune on the fly? What are the physical logistics of this sysem?

A brief tutorial, or some links to tutorials on how the system works, or how ecotecs like to be tuned would be great.

Any additional information that might be pertinent would be well appreciated.

Most people on here will tell you to go right to the HPTuners forum. I would love to give you info, but I'm in the same boat as you. I've had HPT for about a year now and still don't know a single thing about tuning (or even where to start lol). I've tried looking around the HPT forums, but I don't have time to go digging through a bunch of threads and coming back with vague answers. Don't get me wrong, there's a ton of good info on that forum, but finding it can be a real PITA sometimes and can be very time consuming. I know I'm probably gonna get a ton of shit on here for saying that, but it's the truth.

Good luck to you. Hopefully a few of the more experienced guys on here can give you some good info. I know there a re a few books on amazon that can get you started in the right direction. I'm sure someone will know which ones I'm talking about and maybe post a link to them.
