OEM fogs with a simple harness & switch, anyone done it?

Has anyone installed the OEM fogs without messing around with the BCM? I checked the sticky on installing the OEM fogs but it looks a little confusing, and more involved than I want to get. Is it possible to use the OEM fogs with a standard foglight harness, a relay, and any kind of switch?

No but when I had my Ion2 QC, it had the harness connector inside of the bumper by the right front that would connect the foggers. All you need is the lights a harness from the lights to the plug in. Next you will need the switch and harness for the dash and the wiring diagram for it. BTW. be very carefull installing after market electronics. The PCM is already taxed because all the supercharger and engine functions. In the short amount of time I have owned mine, it seems the PCM is over loaded with Amperage issues.

The tech at my dealer did it just like that matt, works fine.

PCM is overloaded? Not exactly...

Cool, looks like I'll be going ahead with the OEM fogs then. I think I still have the harness from the aftermarket foglights on my old car, I'm assuming it would be OK to use since it already has a relay inline.

I wouldn't say the PCM is overloaded either. If that's the case, then why isn't it harming 06's and competition package 05s.

PCM has zero to do with the fogs. With the factory RPO all of the switching functions are handled by the BCM and the most power it has to handle is 150 milliamperes for the relay and 20 mills for the LED. The power is picked up off the main bus under the hood which is already cross connected. For the early 05s, all of the 04s the harness is missing and the BCM does not have the fogs hardware enabled (there is no option in software for the fog lights at all). I would love to get a dead 05 BCM so that I can take a look at the hardware switches and jumper settings but other than that you can;

1) use a switch and a aftermarket relay, fuse, harness..
2) Use the OEM switch and factory relay, fuse and build the logic.
3) Use the factory power bus and then use a separate switch and pull the relay power for any number of switched sources.....

I was wanting to use the OEM switch, but there's 4 pins on the back of it. If there is a way to use an aftermarket harness it, I would definately go that way. I want to keep it as stock looking as posible appearance wise.

If you want to use the OEM switch, you will have to use the logic circuit in the fog light thread..... It only takes about 2 hours to build but thats not everyone's cup of tea. Simply replace the logic switch with a hardware switch for the fog relay and then wire the rest per the instructions and discussions in the thread.
