Rims fitting stock tires

Alright, I have a couple of questions:

If the stock size for rims on the Red Line is 17", then would any 17" rim fit on the stock tire? My friend has 17" Motegi rims that he could give me, they need to be buffed, but they would look really good on my car. I was wondering if I'd have to buy all new tires to fit the rim. They were on his '05 Scion TC. I think the rims are 5-lug, if that helps. So basically my question is if these 5-lug 17" Motegi rims would fit on the stock tire of the Red Line.

By the way, I have an '05 Red Line.

Won't fit, the tC's bolt pattern is 5x100 ours is 5x110 so it's the wrong bolt pattern.

Damn. I'm really let down lol. What if I bought 17" rims with the right bolt pattern and he gave me the tires? The tires would fit, right?
