Mark,

I am ordering the components through Moyer...

Have another few questions for you...

R1 and R8 are listed as 47 ohm and 120 ohm respectively. Are these possible typos and should actually be in k-ohms? Or are 47 and 120 ohms the correct values?

Only R8 has a specific wattage specified (1 Watt), for all others I am ordering 1/2W, is this kosher?

C1 and C2 (the Tantalum Caps) are listing for like $10 and $12 a piece... Is this right? Seems expensive for a damn little cap...

R1 and R8 are correct... The 47 ohm is simply to decouple from the power supply and R8 is sinking about 100mA for about .5 seconds. I used a 1 watt for safety.

That price is nuts... I got mine at Radio Shack and also you can find them at any amatur radio store. You can sub a standard electrolytic cap but the tantalum cap ages much better than the standard electrolytic. You can try these people if local sources are not available. I just bought the active devices from moyer. electonics123 does not sell the 4013B chip.....

For anyone that is genuinely interested in building this logic circuit, here is a list of the components you'll need along with online retailers you can buy the components from. If you're like me and are too damn busy to go out to a bunch of electronics supply stores to find this stuff, then it could prove useful for ya...

Items are listed in the following format:

QTY : DESCRIPTION : SUPPLIER : SUPPLIER PART# : PRICE

Resistors:

1 : 47 Ohm 1/2W : www.moyerelectronics.com : NTE HW047 : $0.95
3 : 100K Ohm 1/2W : www.moyerelectronics.com : NTE HW410 : $2.85
2 : 47K Ohm 1/2W : www.moyerelectronics.com : NTE HW347 : $1.90
1 : 3.3K Ohm 1/2W : www.moyerelectronics.com : NTE HW233 : $0.95
1 : 39K Ohm 1/2W : www.moyerelectronics.com : NTE HW339 : $0.95
1 : 120 Ohm 1W : www.moyerelectronics.com : NTE 1W112 : $0.95

Capacitors:

1 : 10uF 35v Tantalum : www.electronics123.com : DB281 : $1.97
1 : 1uF 35v Tantalum : www.electronics123.com : DB277 : $0.68
1 : .1uF 50v Ceramic : www.radioshack.com : 272-135 : $1.29

Diodes:

1 : 1N4001 : www.radioshack.com : 276-1101 : $0.59

Transistors:

1 : 2N3904 : www.radioshack.com : 276-2016 : $0.69
1 : 2N3053 : www.moyerelectronics.com : NTE128 : $2.17
1 : 2N3906 : www.moyerelectronics.com : NTE159 : $1.74

Integrated Circuits:

1 : CD4013B : www.moyerelectronics.com : NTE4013B : $1.27

Miscellaneous Parts:

1 : 50FT White 30AWG Wire : www.radioshack.com : 278-502 : $3.29
1 : Project Box / PCB Combo : www.radioshack.com : 270-283 : $3.99
1 : PCB Terminals : www.radioshack.com : 276-1388 : $2.29
1 : 6 Pin Female Connector : www.radioshack.com : 274-236 : $1.99
1 : 6 Pin Male Connector : www.radioshack.com : 274-226 : $1.99

Some of the stuff under misc. parts are things I added for my convenience... Because I intend to have this box in the engine compartment I want it to be sealed... So I'll be running 6 wires from the PCB terminals out of the box and into a 6pin connector and wiring a harness for the other 6 pin connector to interface with the car.

All the parts above come to a cost of $32.50 not including shipping...

Big time kudos to mailmars for developing this circuit!

Depending on how complicated it is to make this thing, I might build the logic circuit only for a fee... It would not be cheap either... I'm thinking around $75 which would cover all the parts / supplies and shipping... Because the logic circuit is by far the most intimidating part of this evolution, maybe that'll get more folks interested in doing it up with factory fogs!

Thats a lot of work and great info!!!!!! And thank ya sir for the kudos... It takes about 1.5 hours to build also be a little careful with the chip it is CMOS and can be static sensitive. Just don't walk on a carpet and then pick it up by the pins If you have anymore questions just ask but it seems all is in hand...

I went to the ocal Saturn dealership and got a few part numbers for the foglamp job...

Now I am a bit confused because there seems to be some conflicts...

The swich assembly number I got was right on, P/N 22666418 for the dash switch

However, the part number for the front grille was a bit off, although I checked the parts manual and it clearly stated "Front Grille With Foglamps" and the parts guy said it was coded for the redline... They had three different "With Foglamps" grills, one for redlines, one for QC's and one for sedans... Anyway, the part number I got for the grille was P/N 22713873 which does not match the part number you have listed in the beginning of this thread. Is this a replacement part number that supercedes the old one, or is it a totally bogus part number altogether?

The only other part I wanted to get for the was I plan to install my fogs was the connecter and service pigtail which plugs into the back of the dash mounted switch.

The connector has a part number of P/N 12102900. This was indeed listed as the fog light switch connector, but it was an 8 position connector... I was under the impression that the fog lamp switch only had 4 wires going to it? Is this the correct connector?

And DAMN they have the service leads, but they want $13.50 for EACH wire... F*ck that! I'll solder them bitches straight on the switch before I pay that damn much...

And on to more rediculous pricing... I intended to order up the boost gauge / ladder tach assembly and they wanted $258.13 for the thing!!!

I called Saturn of Cary while I was standing at the parts counter and ordered one from them right there at my Saturn dealership for $163... They parts guy was like WTF? Hey man, $100 bones is $100 bones... No hard feelings bro...

I can't find my damn invoices but here is the number for the Fog Light Switch connector and yes it is a 4 Terminal connector. The part he was talking about is PN 12020299-5 Way F PC Edgeboard-Standard (White) this is for the dimmer switch/adjuster.

PN# 12089248-4 Way F Metri-Pack 150 Series (BK) (05 FSM)

A Circuit# 151 Black/White *T6 Ground
B Circuit# 008 Gray IP Lamp Supply Volatge (IP Dimmer)
C Circuit# 317 Yellow *T5 Fog Lamp Relay Coil Supply Voltage (SW LED)
D Circuit# 192 Orange *T2 Front Fog Lamp Switch/Fog Lamps Enable

I will call the dealer tommorow and get the service pigtail numbers for you..The connector PN per the 05 FSM is:

Fog Lamp-LF (T37) 12124819-2 Way F Black
Fog Lamp-RF (T37) 12124819-2 Way F Black

Yes they are the same, I included both as that is how they are listed. I think I need to order the parts master.....

Thanks for all the help... If I end up getting the front grille and finding out the Hella lamps will not fit, then I will go with the OEM lamps...

If I get the Hella Micro DE's as I plan to, then I don't even plan to interface them with the fuse box as they have all the necessary fuses and relays included with their harness... I'll need to make the logic box either way, and have the parts on the way to assemble that beast.

So as it stands the only service pigtail / connector I need is the four terminal connector that goes to the OEM Fog Light dash switch.

I'll make some calls as well and see if I can find out anything... But I would certainly appreciate it if you could call your parts contacts as well for verification purposes, as I already know my sources are not the most reliable...

I stand corrected on the above part numbers, the 05 FSM is full o shit as far as part numbers go...

The service pigtail as described above is PN#22705523 (FL Switch connector) List $11.30
The service pigtails for the lamp is PN#12102900 2 per pack $45.32

The grille PN and cost is correct as previously stated.....

I got the last of the components today... Waiting for the grille, switch, and switch pigtail from Saturn of Cary...

Could someone who has the factory front grille with fog cutouts do me a huge favor? because I am wanting to do Hella Micro DE fog lamps, I need to know the inside diameter of the fog cutout. Anyone who can get that for me would be the king... I want to go ahead and get the lights on the way here, whether it be the Hella lamps, or factory lamps. I need to see if the Hellas are going to fit though (I am thinking they will...)

Mark, I'm gonna go ahead and build the logic box probably over the weekend. I'll let you know if I run into any problems with expected outputs.

I also wanted to let you know that the part number you gave me for the service pigtail for the fog switch is the pigtail for a VUE fog switch. I trust your number though, so I went ahead and ordered one up... It was cheap enough, if it ends up being the wrong thing, I'll just send it back.

Oh yeah, thanks for posting the part number for the center console also... Ordered one of those too...
