I need Struts

Hi, I'm new to the forum (and new to my car).
I have a 2005 Saturn Ion Redline Quad Coupe with 176k miles on it.
It needs new struts, they're knocking, and finding that almost nobody carries the struts for that car. I've only found them on this site so far.

GM Parts | GM Accessories | GM Parts House Store

and it's $320 for the front pair. and $60 for the bearings.

Anyone know of a better place to get them/a better price?

(I also figure I'll do an oil change at the same time as I have the struts done. What oil/filter is recommended and where can I get it?)

Cobalt - Ion - Struts, Shocks and Components

Try Walmart or Costco for Mobil1 synthetic oil and any part store should have filter. Purilator or Fram are good. And remember LSJ takes 7 quarts of oil.

Is there any significant difference in different brands of synthetic motor oils?

Yes it will work but u need the use the ion upper mount for them to work

I think the ion redline came with the same fe5 that the sc cobalt did but the fe5 for the tc cobalt is better(what u linked) so Id buy them. I have them on my sc cobalt.

Completely different suspension part but it is a compatible suspension to do a complete swap to with their shocks n struts

I'll be getting shocks/struts soon as well. Anyone see any issue with going with rockauto.com to get the SS/TC shocks/struts instead of CED? Can pick them up for $263 as opposed to CED's $311. Those would be the ACDelco parts.

Also need new strut mounts since my bearings are shot in mine. Found that out last time when I put stock springs back on. Rockauto has those for $22 each

I got the same package from rockauto, they are amazing and it the same thing ced sells just cheaper, i go buy from rockauto for my oem parts no point to pay more for the same item.

I just did the FE5 front struts, moog endlinks, and moog lower control arm bushings all from rockauto.

Fe5- $85 each strut
Endlinks- $23 each
LCAs- $8

I got a new bearing and top hat(strut mount) from them a few thousand miles ago $27. All these parts fit with no issues at all.
