Water inside the cabin

Hey everyone out there ..I have come across a bummer that seems to be getting worse. The sunroof may have clogged up or the pipe needs to be fixed... and I am getting more water latetly (wet inside roof !!!!!!)...Has everyone experienced this with their sunroofs? I have read some threads about the sunroof repair here.

Wink Same problem ... My Ion Quad Coupe Redline is Fixed!

Hi Ö I had a similar problems over the last 2-3 years, where the sunroof would leak either in the rain or a car wash. I discussed the issue with my mechanic, who now works at a Chevrolet dealership after specializing on Saturn at a GMC dealer. We decided to try "clearing" the sunroof drain channels, because nothing else seemed to be causing the problem. He indicated that there would be no guarantees Ö but it worked. It has been over a year since his work, and the car has been thru rain, snow and car washes Ö not a single leak! For those in So Cal ... Simpson Chevrolet in Lake Forest ... ask for their Saturn specialist.

got a good response from the nip at the wheel well .

The sun roof drains plugging up was a common problem in these cars. There is a tsb about it. I’d you pull the grommets at the body out where the drain hose goes into it you will see like a “ duck bill” looking end to it. That is where they get plugged up. Cut the duck bill off and reinstall make sure the drain goes is in the grommets correctly. Can also put small zip tie to help hole hose in place. Really easy on the rear drain in the trunk. Not so easy on the front drain. It’s up in the kick panels behind some foam. Good luck

Thanks Chevtech... this was really getting to me after a few consecutive storms...recently a puddle on my drivers side near pedals . The ceiling was soaked all the way back to the rear door area

I was reading some of the past threads and they say to take off the pillar and visor .. get to the pipes and see if they disconnected....glad I did not try that ...but it could also happen that way

There was a discussion here 10 years ago ... also said to go to the those nips ... so I went looking and got worried because they are not really noticeable... I don't know what the heck happened but moving the nip and .. guess the pipe behind it ... released about 1/2 gallon of water.

I did see the foam or whatever that is ... old insulation ..could of had a rat living there

I think the hose/pipe had a kink in it and was blocking the water flow on mine ... the drains at the top in the sunroof were clean on mine.

Poured water after and it went down .....

I had 2 storms recently and everthing stayed dry .....wish I had known this because I have had water drops for years and the famous alarm going off in the middle of the night ...not funny

I also thought that it was hard to cut the nip because there is a small space there ....

the duck bill is small

are these easy to get to on the underside or other side of the nip?

Redline1 you are right the hose could come off at the sunroof also but I don’t remember see that befor. But I’m sure it could happen. As far as the duck bill. This is what I did on mine. This is the trunk left side. You can pull them out easy just make sure the hose is in,and grommet fully seated when going back together. On my car the the hose only goes in like a 1/4 inch. Like I said before the rears are easy. The front not so much
