Offset issues...how much can we afford to sacrifice?

9.5" wide rim in front, I'm thinking we can afford the 25mm less clearance(towards the strut) by running the 35mm offset. I'd hate to get a staggered set as I like the idea of rotating her tires...

I wonder how bad the turning would be affected by running some 9.5" wide rims up front.

+35 for a 9.5" wide?!?! Um - try more like a +10... Might even need to end up with a negative like a RWD...

Well, let's see. Add 7mm figuring a 7.5" with a +42 still fits okay, and we're at a +49. Than subtract 52mm for twi extra inches of wheel to offset to the outside... That's -3.

Yeah - you'd need somewhere between -10 offset and MAYBE a +10, although the +10 would be a helluva squeeze.

There's still some room to go, I was thinking okay, another half inch to clear so -12mm to 35 giving me an offset of 23mm right? Optimally that's the best route to go.

Ultimately, looking at the pics clearly show that 9" wide front rim has a liiiiitttle room(more or less the 2nd one) to give with a 35mm offset. I'm thinking that .5" will be okay from looking at those pics

People have run 8.5" wide but I cannot seem to find the offset of someone running an 8.5" rim on our platforms, its killing me!!! BUT I believe the offset for them is like 35mm.

No way those are +35 offset 9" wide with no spacers.

I feel ya, I went through the build of that cobalt in the HCI issue and the online feature which was wrong and stated the wrong width of the front wheel 9.5's or something then Gene Tjin the great himself posted the wheels for sale on cobalt ss verifying what I read at first:

Very reputable guy in the scene who know's his stuff, Idk why he wouldn't mention something like spacers being needed w/his for sale thread. Maybe Ill have to write into the HCI mag "technical questions" article or something to see if there was any stipulations haha. Idk Im lost, I need to figure something out quick...




Check this prelude out: 30mm offset in the front, 35mm in the back, 9.5 all the way around....I know its irrelevant but that's nuts they could do it and we can't.

Also here, the plan is to get the fender flush with the lip of the rim with the two and half extra inches of rim after I lower the offset a bit

I guess I could be wrong; however I know that 245 width rubber - the minimum you'd want to run on a wheel that wide - rubs slightly against the shock when pulled IN on a 7 or 7.5 inch wide wheel in a +42 offset from much personal experience. If you were to go with a shorter overall wheel/tire combo it could help a little, but adding a full 30mm to the inside... That's between an inch and an inch and a quarter... The rubber would be, like RIGHT on the shock...

Would look clean as hell, but no way I'd drop my car that much and ruin the suspension geometry to that degree, lol. You'd be so far below parallel...

Anyway, good luck, I hope you figure it out...

Thanks a lot for the input, I been wondering how much space we had with our 7" wheel with a 42 mm offset....I don't have my car at the moment to look. I was gonna run a 235 series tires just to get that extra space but I will sacrifice that rim protection. I'm definbitely not going as low as the prelude lol but I am contemplating putting together a performance type air suspension(been doin alota research)...we'll see how this goes haha
