So many times, people don't take into consideration the power to weight ratio. I haven't had the opportunity to run against to many cars, two to be exact. After hearing everyone else talk though, it affirms the power and potential. I'm sick for the rumored stage upgrades.

my mom has an 04, went 14.6 at 96 with 2.35 60 ft. the automatic trans in the 04+ GTP's suck. they have Torque managment and really slow the car down.what it does is it pulls the timing during WOT shifts and it really kills performance but saves the trans. With just a new ECU that gets rid of the TQ managment they pick up almost as much as .2 to .3 of sec in the 1320.

and another thing to remember they dont have a 55 hp advantage, they have a 15-20hp advantage. we put our rating to the wheels. the GTP weighs about 3500-3600 pounds. what gets those things moving is the all the torque they have. theyre rated at 280 but they make around 300. previous generation had 240hp and 280tq. now with a better blower design they make 260hp and 280tq . 20 more hp and the torque just happens to stay at 280? not happenin

nice, i've been wondering how we'd fair against one of the new ones, i've taken an older one (2000 style model)

Sometimes that just happens. If i put the PI lower intake on my car i would gain around 25 horses but the torque will stay virtually the same.

Not to be a d*ckhead but i don't see how you can beat a GTP by up to 3 car lengths cuz that would translate to like over 1 second faster in the 1/4 mile. Not that i don't beleive you but i have raced 2 different RL's and the one i have raced twice now and neither of them have beat me. My Regal is lighter than a 4door GTP and heavier than a 2door GTP and i'm not stock but still. Maybe they don't know how to launch their cars or something cuz i had a Cavalier Z24 beat me the 2nd day i had my car when it was 100% stock. Found out you can't just mash it from the get-go. I spun so much i lost and couldn't make up the slack. :D Anyways anything can happen on the streets i guess.

Yeah anything can happen in a street race. My GTP has had its fair share of good runs and bad runs. One just came up the other day. i came across a new wrx. The first run was fairly close because we went from a stop. He jumped out ahead by about a car because i sat and spun but once be got up and moving i had him by about a car and a half at 55-60. Second race was from about 15 and i walked him the whole time, by about 65 i was around 3-4 cars ahead. Anything can happen. Although my car isnt stock it isnt super modded either, just have catback, pulley, airbox and pcm. Now i have ridden in a new ion redline and driven a new Comp-g gtp. Between these i would have to say the ion felt a lot quicker. i think it could have been due to the tranny but it felt to pull harder for longer. To me anyway this is completly believable. Ive been in my fair share of gtp's and know the potential of most of them but this little ion i rode in just thrilled me more than my car can. I was seriously thinking about trading in for one for a while.

ftr my car has ran a best of [email protected]33, with a best mph of 100.66 and a best 60' of 1.975

it was me he raced in the GTP!! lol it was my dads. we couldnt launch because of garsnows tires, the z rated tires are awful in this weather. i really couldnt believe that he had beat me. those redlines are some beasts.

it really does suck launching in the wintrer with z rated tires

Adam needs to wait till it is warm out, and then race someone. You can't get in a good race when it is -2degrees out side. It is not good for you or the other guy. One thing I wondered is, how to get rid of the wheel hop in the RL's? I test drove a Red 05, and it WAS SOOO MUCH faster than my cav, but hard to launch. Prolly didn't help it was raining, huh?

thanks for signing up james, i appreciate it. and yeah, i dont think the rain helped very much. as for wheel hop, there are bushings like there is for the cavalier, but there metal, not polyurethane.

hopefully you get a turbo setup so on the way to the gmsc bash you can keep up :D
