On an earlier thread someone metioned that they will not be making an A piller gauge for our cars because it is against the law to make them on cars that come with curtain airbags. If you want take another cars A pillar gauge pod and heat gun it to form it correctly, goofyguy I think has one and navymitch12 with a few others. All I did was mounted my boost gauge with a $3 bracket on the right side and under my steering wheel. A quick hook up till I can have someone help me later(no heat gun).

for some reason i doubt it would....but its worth a shot if u ask me.
Agreed. I stopped last Friday after work at my local Chevy dealer because their website said they had a Cobalt SS. They did not. The guy I spoke with said they were getting one this week so I will check again and see what it looks like.

On a side note, maybe it was just this dealer, as soon as I walked in the door they flocked to me to see if they could help me and to see "if I was already working with someone". I explained to the guy that I had just bought a Redline before Thanksgiving and I just wanted to get a look at the Cobalt SS. Even after I told him that and asked for a Cobalt book he still asked me twice for my phone #. I guess thats a good thing that they are trying to sell cars but it still was a little uncomfortable. Saturn never did that when I walked in but I guess they are all different.

Say NO to pillar pods. Pillar pods and gauges are played out. This belief was confirmed when, on my drive to Florida, I saw about 20 ******* truckers sporting these things. When you start to see 1980's and early 90's model S10s and F150s (and several POS trucks) with gauges in their pillars, it should be a sign of something. It's similar to when slang works its way into the vocabulary of middle aged white women. Remember the term "bling bling"?

I will be happy to say "no" to the pillar POD's as soon as someone comes up with an alternative. Has anyone tried to put one in that dead space below the heat controls. I know it seems kinda low but the EVO has gauges down there. I may look into that.

It is possible, but the fuse box might get in the way and it won't be easily visible. Just mount some cups on the dash. I mounted a boost gauge on the steering column.

I was thinking of putting 3 down there I figure if people can put their aftermarket decks down there we should be able to get gauges down there. As far as the not being able to see them I think autometer makes things that angle the gauges (having a lapse in memory as to what they are called) toward you.

Im going to give a go on a dual pod on the steering column. Im going to measure out and make it out of sheet metal to see how I like it. I am going to look around for some sheets of thin plastic like hard plastic to perhaps mold out into the pods.

As well I will be making pods as well for the pillars. I expect if you have the air bag you will be warned. I may have to vin check you guys to keep tabs. As well these will be available as soon as my move is done.

does the A-pillar gauge pod really get in the way of the side curtain airbags?

Looking at where mine are, it seem like if there was a gauge pod there, it would become a projectile if the bags went off...
