I have a 2005 saturn ion redline with a 5 speed manual transmission issue, hoping someone can help.

When I start up it makes a slight grinding sound, after I push in the clutch it goes away and after warmed up it goes away.
Also after the car is warmed up its difficult to shift into reverse.
All the gears seem to work ok with no slipping.
Transmission fluid looked a little dark so I drained it and put new synthetic valvoline import ATF with conditioner today in hopes it might help.
Any ideas?

Sadly it sounds like the trans is on its way out. Input shaft may be worn

Have you tried adjusting the cables any?

Haven't tried that yet, bought the car 2 months ago.
250,000 miles with a new old stock crate motor put in it.
Bought it for $500
I assumed they never did anything with the transmission
Couldn't believe new fluid along with some k&w transmission additive would help so much

Could also be a sign of the clutch master starting to go. Extremely common on the ions
