I have new plugs new wires oil change complete tune-up in other words and when I hit the gas pedal kind of heavy it shutters anybody know what this is so far the only opinion I've gotten is the catalytic converter

No sir, unleaded. Didnt know it needed better, tbh. Have recently filled but this is ongoing, but not constant. Mostly, but not constant. abs code and engine light. Had a list of the codes but its been a couple weeks now. Reset them and checked and came back. Will get them again if they will help. As usual, incredibly grateful....

Yes sir. Supposed to be using premium. That along could be a lot of the issue.
Engine codes would also help

Ok. Had an engine light, now i do not. Ran code reader and got 2 codes: P0128 andP0326 Had 1/4 tank at receiving your reply @goaliemo so filled it with premium. Bout killed me to pay so much but if it helps, and so far it seems to. Maybe it's mere coincidence but had the engine light on before fillup but after fillup it is gone. Performance seems to have improved but I haven't really tested it for very long

Manual says reg unleaded, what's up with that?

P0128 is the thermostat stuck open. So it running to cold could cause issues.
And p0326 is the knock sensor. False knock could be from the fuel.
It is a redline, correct? Base models take regular. Redlines take premium.
Also. Is your intercooler pump working? If i remember you said your car is stock.

Following this thread. I have same issues under a bit harder than normal accel. my dealer has no idea about what the real issue is.

Ok. Premium didnt change performance. Yes its a redline. Installed new intercooler pump about a month or so ago. @goaliemo sorry bout delay. Just noticed that when in nuetral hitting gas does not repeat symptom. Only when in drive. Put a bottle of seafoam in it just now with fill up, will see. Doubt it'll cure it but should get the pipe's lubed a little and cleaner.?

Did you clean the throttle body and air filter when doing the spark plugs? Also what spark plugs did you install and what gap? A barely dirty throttle body will cause significant performance issues because of how sensitive these things are. Also do you have a way to monitor your IAT2

Good point on the tb and filter/maf. Even not throwing a code can still cause issues.

Know how much boost youre hitting? Do you hear any sort of weird whining noise (besides the blower) when accelerating? Last clogged cat I saw sounded like a auto trans whinning

No way to moniter

My issue seems to be get to be getting worse someone came up with the possibility of having a clogged catalytic converter? Anybody hear of this?
The CAT is a possibilty - but an expensive swap - do you have the CAT code?

Just a thougt here also on the octane of the gas with the redline

I would just say also give it some time - if the car has been using "down graded" fuel for a while

it will most likely take a long time for things to change the systems performance.

I have been using 93 octane for almost 7 years

2004 saturn ion redline - GM stage 2

@1Redline that makes sense to me. Logical. Fuel additive could take a minute to clear things out, depending on the circumstance. I dont know what you mean by cat code, if you mean from code reader, no not yet. @goaliemo I think i might but im not experienced with these things, could easily have imagined it, will try to discern more attentively. Thank you guys for your time and attentiveness. It has gotten a bit worse though, now. Harder to engage into first gear without stalling. Didnt struggle as much when i first started driving it. Of course this issue had not manifested yet, then. Would have been a given then being i was not used to this clutch yet.

As eager and willing to learn as I am, still quite green with mechanics.
