someone email him, he has 2 good wheels left, you put some nice drag tires on them :D
Man! Picking that carcass! Wait, I want his seats too!

In all seriousness, it's amazing that he's apparently ok, I assume he wrote the paragraph about it. Looks like he should be seriously injured or dead! :eek:

This is his comment from that link;
Some moron in a Civic (which appeared to be bone stock) decided to be a hero and try to race me. First off, street racing is for idiots. Take it to the track you fools. Secondly, my ION wasn't much, but it'd blow the doors of ANY bone stock Civic. So this moron trys to pass me on the Highway, sees a truck in the on-coming lane, and trys to get back into my lane. Well guess what...I WAS STILL IN THE LANE JACK-ASS. So anyway, I ate a LOT of ditch as you will see in the coming photos.
Look at how far away the road is in the pic below.....

I'm sorry but under dry conditions (wich it appears to be, not sure when the accident occured though) a vehicle that leaves the road dose not travel that far from the road at normal 2 lane highway speeds. I have been responding to and assisting in investigating vehicle accidents for over 6 years and for a vehicle to experiance that ammount of structural damage and travel that far from the roadway is near impossible at safe and legal highway speeds. If I were to guess, based on accidents I have seen in the past, that car was traveling near or possibly over 100mph. There is not obstructions and not a huge drop visable from the roadway to the field. I would say that car rolled multiple times. It takes alot of energy to get a car to travel that far as it's rolling.

My conclusion would be that he was most likely racing and he and the driver in the civic are god damn lucky that they did not kill anyone in the process.

I was wondering when I read his story, it seemed a little strange.... they guy in the Civic was trying to race him, and street racing is stupid. So why on earth would the Civic not be able to pass him, since he wasn't racing, and the Civic was so impatient to race he didn't wait for a truck to pass first? The Redline didn't hit the brakes when he saw the terrible attempt to pass that close? The last one that I'm thinking of now, how does a Civic smash a larger, heavier car off the highway so far that it turns into a rolling ball of death. I was in a Ford Escort wagon, like an '88 or so, and it rolled 8 times and was in better shape than this thing. That was around 85 mph on a dirt road, idiot friend driving, smashed the brakes, fishtailed, hit BIG rock sitting along the dirt road.

I was kind of wondering where the civic was as well. If he were to hit im, say in the front, with the larger Saturn it would be just like watching a P.I.T. manuver on tv, the civic would have gone around and into the ditch with him. If he would have hit him in the back the opposite would have occured and the RL would have spun. Tough to tell buy the pics. I wonder there the pannels off of the driver side went. I would be interested to see if there was any paint transter on them and where it was at.

I think he is full of shit personally..... :rolleyes:

Full of shit or not, that's one fucked up redline. I mean ursh, that had to have been rough whatever happened. Hardcore. I'd like to know the real story, cuz if somebody walked away from a mangled mess like THAT in a Saturn, I know I picked the right car.

I agree the story is a little off, but he is okay (apparently) and the car took a beating either way. Just makes me feel a lot safer driving my car now as I know I can live through mutliple rolls.

The way I read the story is the RL driver avoided contact with the Civic and ran off the road without making contact... probably turned the wheel first before even attempting to brake, ran off the pavement at top speed and proceeded to roll and tumble at high speed.

I guess the important lesson is we've seen a couple recent cases of people who have (essentially) walked away from very bad accidents in their RLs. One primary reason I bought the RL was I walked away with only bumps and bruises from an accident in my '97 SW2 last November... between $12K and $15K in damage (totalled).

Uninsured jerk in '91 Suburban blew stop sign, pulling out from side street making left turn directly into my path... I was doing about 45-50... had zero time to brake, tried to turn wheel to R to avoid contact... that didn't happen. I was spun 180°, damage on three sides, front end caved in, bags deployed, seat back bent back, passenger compartment frame deformed so that doors couldn't be opened... I crawled out through the broken passenger side window.

Saturn makes very crash-worthy small cars.

Yup and you know you'll see those pics in every Saturn showroom too. They always manage to destroy every inch of those cars. I remember when I got mine the salesman was bragging about a woman driving with her daughter, and went head-on with a train. Of course, they lived, or else he wouldn't be telling the story and showing the article. Now don't get me started on how or why she did it...... *voice of Napoleon Dynamite* Idiot!

we need to get the true story or something i really what to know what this guy walked away with and what really went down on the road. I read it that he turned away b4 the civic even hit him so he could have ran off the road at like 80 and just rolled over. I dont know it does seem like he was racing who knows tho

Based on the condition of that mangled car, I'm guessing you probably wouldn't want the seats, unless you have a heavy duty seat cleaner. I'm betting you could tell what his meal prior to the wreck was.........
