I saw a film that you can put over your headlights and taillights it comes in yellow, blue, clear, and smoke i was wondering if anyone has every put a flim over there lights before. If you have please let me know how it worked out. One of my friends bought this spray paint like stuff that you spray over your lights and it blacks them out but it allows the light to shine through. He put it on his 95 mustang gt, hes away and i cant get a hold of him i was wondering if any one knows what this paint stuff is called and if so where can i get it and how much is it. Thanks

The paint that they sell for that is called "NightShade". The only place here in MI that I have seen it is a place called RamChargers. I did this on my old 97 Jetta. The only down side is that after a while it will start to fade. I did my rear lights, side markers, and turn signals. The side markers and turn signals didn't really fade because they were so small they really didn't get all that much sun. But the rears I had to redo about every 6 months. I did find some translucent paint at a craft store and used that with a clear coat they had for plastics and that lasted alot longer.

If you do this just make sure that you go real slow and apply the layers little by little. If you don't it will run and bubble. If this does happen you can wet sand it with a very fine sandpaper.

Interesting. I looked up that VHT Night Shades paint.

I think I'm going to do this. I'm a "poor boy" so cost effective shit (if it still looks good) is right up my alley. I saw several pics of people who did it to their cars and they all looked nice. I wonder if any auto parts retailers here carry it?

I'll also need to clear coat them after painting. They say it will look dull without some clearcoat. Can anyone suggest a clearcoat brand to use?

Well, I guess I can scratch that idea. Just called a station that does state inspections and found out that it's illegal to have your lights tinted, smoked or covered. Guess I'll have to wait for some AM tail lights to hit the market.

That sucks!!!!

A lot of members of my Grand Prix club have used Niteshade on thier tail lights with great results. When done the lights have a dull finish to them but you can buff that out.

Not illegal in Ontario.

Where in Ontario are you from anyway? I am from Stoney Creek. Nice GP by the way. I just finished placing a bod for an ION sedan taillight so that I can tint that instead of my stock ones. Of course, I will have to get a matching one too, but I gotta start somewhere.

I'm more worried about passing the state inspection than getting pulled over for smoked tail lights.

Then again, I could just buy a spare set of tail lights when inspection time comes around. ;)

That what I did for my Jetta just incase I was giving a ticket I could show them that they were back to normal. I found a used pair on ebay for 30 bucks. I haven't found any cheap ones for us yet. But when I do I will prob do the same thing again.

Luckily for us here in MI we don't have inspections.

its gonna be hard to find used lights for cheap for our cars because there are no aftermarket lights out yet so no one is taking the factory ones off and selling them on ebay
