I would like to do something with this panel space. Is it possible to install a motorized DVD screen here? I'm not sure how deep it is and was wondering who has removed it.

It's not very deep because the fuses are behind that area. I was gonna mount my gauges in that spot until I found what was behind it.

You may not be able to mount an in-dash DVD player with a screen that pops up, but you could mount a regular DVD player (looks like a regular radio). And then just get some screens for the headrests, works great if you have kids. My daughter still yells at me to turn down the radio so that she can watch Lion King 1 1/2.

How much room behind the panel is there, 3-4 inches?

look at the side panel there is a screw back it off and the side panel sides comes off you will see how much room you have
