I'm going to get a boost Gauge for my RL and wondering what kind I should get or does it really matter other than making sure it looks cool. I found one maded by Blitz. Carbon face and Chrome bezel, a black light. Looks Cool. Here it is. Let me know!!! Does anyone have the Colunm/ Pillar pods mount

Uhhh...no.
I have always like the look of the various Autometer gauges, they have just about every combo of colors and looks.
The draw back to those, at least for me is that they read in bar and not pounds. They are great if you are used to reading that type of gauge

Personally, I am going to invest in SPA digital dual gauges. They are spendy but top line. Here is a link to their site.

I think they are kinda neat looking. Thats a differnt effect lite from the front ya know.
If you care about accuracy, dont get an Autometer or a VDO. Go with a well known electrical (not mechanical) boost gauge, from one of the following manufacturers:

GReddy (my preference)
Blitz
HKS
Apex'i
Defi
Why not mechanical?
what about

How about the pod mount or colunm mout next to the drivers window. Does anyone have these? I think I will order the BLM Blitz boost gauge tonight.
I have had nothing but great reliable performance out of the mechanical ones I have used. I have used 6 types but always end up with Auotmeter. Why the hate for them? Its accurate and looks great.

The Pods you have to make or have made for you. I know because I made mine and then got voulenteerd to make 4 more. Darn Smiff family. Just cant tell them no.
Hmmm

I think its time to break out the fiber glass and make a pod mount for our Ions. I want it smooth and not looking like a stuck it on there. Do you have a mold or what?
nope a heat gun did the job quite well. Really Really easy maybe 15 mins to do the Job.
Hmmm. Well I will see what happens post pictures later.
you seen mine right? Its a pretty simple job. Just take your time and use low heat to slowly melt the plastic till its soft then force it against the pillar. Trial and error till you get it perfect.

I prefer electronic boost controllers, mechanicals usually dont have a peak and hold feature (you can not drive safely and look at all your gauges at the same time) and seem to survive the test of time. I cant say the same for mechanicals, tho your mileage may vary.

Just my 2c.
ac

Ijust installed a ac boost gauge (invision) WITH THE SILvER face its silver off and lit up white and blue when its on. works great and looks great. i have it mounted in front of the steering wheel where you can look straight at it.
Change my mind. Didn't order the Boost gauge. I'm going with the new nexus Autometer gauges. They should be out next month. I went a preordered them from my local shop.

What exactly is the difference between electronic and mechanical? I've always wondered.

Also, can you just stick any boost gauge on there, because most of the ones I see say they are for turbo and dont specify if they would work on a supercharger.
Boost Gauges work by using a vacuum line. So, any boost gauge should work.

.
The difference is Digital uses a sensor at the connection and then you have a wire that runs to the gauge. Mechanical usally for boost and oil pressure has a small tubing that runs to the gauge. The Digital Gauges are better but they cost more.
