that is correct you need the light to be amber not the housing.
yes the light needs to be amber, but by law you need to have relfective amber on the front corner or the car. thats why in the past when you bought clear corners they also had like 1.5" x 1.5" extra amber reflective squares that you were "suposed" to put on your car also so it would be legal ( like anyone did)
A couple weeks ago I was at a performance car parts show, both Sinister Redlines and I talked to several manufactures of Headlights, tail lights and markers ..... about clear corners, HID conversion kits and tail lights for both the SRT and Red Line. We got the same thing from all of them about the clear side markers .... APC was the only one that had been making them out of those companies, and now doesn't make them any more because they had been fined many thousands of dollars for doing it. So to relpace mine again I'll need to find some old stock, or just go back to the stock amber ones.
I guess the government is really cracking down on alot of auto safty and lighting laws.
Another one that they are cracking down on according to the PIAA rep. is HID conversion kits, If you have noticed they don't offer HID conversion kits for cars that didn't come with them anymore

He also told us that starting like in September (or somewhere arount there) if you get caught with an HID conversion kit in your car you'll get fined, and they will also fine the manufacturer of the kit also..... I guess the big stink is that HID's are sensitive to the angle of the car. Most all stock HID kits in cars have leveling syatems for the lights so say you put three people in the back seat the lights can be readjusted so they don't blast people in the eyes.
