My problem is that the clutch is bad/loose, pressure plate(?), or flywheel loose.

Car make a rattling noise wehn in gear and uner no or very little acceleration. Goes away when the clutch is pressed! Dealer said the SC is bad.
Clutch rattles pretty good on cold mornings...goes away with clutch pressed.

Told them today, If it doesn't fix it...THE CAR IS YOURS!

Upsetting because I really like the car!

Wow, that sucks. How many miles is on the car?

Tom
870!

There is no way the SC is bad. My GTP uses an M90 and I have had it apart for repairs and know what it sounds like when it has issues. I have witnessed other SC's having issues mine hasn't. The dealers will never learn.

"Oh! You are bringing your car in for service. You must not know anything about them."
believe it or not, i think im getting that same thing.

do you hear it alot on acceleration?

i only get it when i push on the gas while in gear.
I've done a little more testing with the sound that I was describing in other posts. It seems to be the same sound as described here. I did notice that it disappears if you press in the clutch or you are not in gear. I'm not that familiar with blowers, but could this just be a normal sound from the blower from back pressure?
is it almost like a grinding type sound?

Yes, but it's not really obtrusive. Since I've heard it described by a few people here, I will assume it is nothing bad for the moment.
Well took it to another dealer today and they agree it's coming from the trans area and probably the clutch. They have the car now and we have a Kio Spectra for a loaner!

I then called back the original sales dept and let the guy have it...politely. :D

I told him that there are times when the person that brought the car in knows as much or more about cars then they do so they may want to listen up. The dealer I used to take my Grand Prix to, when it had a warranty, learned to ask me what I thought they should check and went from there!
So........did you get your car back, dude?

So far no funny noises from mine. (crossed fingers)

I know you don't wanna drive a Kia any longer than absolutely necessary. :p
I noticed that same noise on mine, esp when i first bought it. I dont hear it as much anymore, and it hasnt affected performance, so im thinking its just a normal sound. goes away as soon as clutch is pressed in.
Got the car back last night...According to several extremely knowledable gear heads hear as well as Saturn Corporate...the noise is normal. It is caused by the way the gears are cut. I think they are cut flat type, helical design. So they make noise. Not real happy about it but what are you going to do. Every RL they drove here made the noise...

When this whole thing started last Friday, the car had 867 miles. It now has 1070. 60 miles alone round trip to the dealer. Seems a little fishy to me but the second dealer I took it to is pretty reputable around hear. Thinking about taking her back for a new 0 mile RL...

manual transmissions are always a little noisier than auto's.
