i'm driving down the road and run into this eclipse nice looking car i could see he had an exaust and some pillar gauges, so where playing around nothing major to much traffic. We come up to the highway onramp and i got on it hopeing he'd follow, which he did we get on it there are some cars in the right lane so we can't go side by side but i get to lead and were off from about 40mph -75 he pretty much doesn't gain any distance but from 80 on he starts moving closer and by about 110 he's on my bumper and at this point the highway clears out so he gets over and i guess trys to pass me but only starts pulling little bit before we hit 130 but i was still ahead. we start slowing down because there is some cars up ahead and get past them and slow down again and line up at about a 70mph roll and we go and he pulls on me pretty good. the highway gets all curvy up ahead so he slows down and gives me a thumbs up, we both get off at the next exit while waiting for the green he hangs out his window and yells back to me if my car was stock i told yea except for my exaust he said " damn that things got some balls" i told him he as a fast car he said has a turbo from an evo on there and some other things done to it. i was pretty impressed with his car and with how my redline hung with it

I too have raced a GST marron one convertable he had BOV, intake, full exhaust (header, down pipe, back) gauges, etc looked hot!

I had 3 peeps in car and he had girl in car with him he floored it early but i was a car length behond whole time never pulled or nothing so we would have been even !!!!

at light he was like your thing is stock WTF i was like yea

he won but hey ya cant always win

Hope u guys kill them oneday. I hate eclipses. My ex friend has a 95 GS-T with like 100k and it smokes..runs pretty good but is stock except a few free mods. He said he wont race me cuz it would be wasting his time unless i was supercharge!! LOL. I mean come on i wont smash him it would be close but i think id come out on top. If i had a supercharger...well then damn it would be over!!

GS-T = turbo & all-wheel drive, correct? If so, heavy car, and not pulling THAT much power out of it, 250-hp if I remember correctly. With a few mods it could be quick, but the AWD definitely cuts into it. MBH, your Stang should keep fairly even with one, and I'd be surprised if stock-for-stock we didn't walk on turbo eclipses/talons.

Gs-t = turbo and front wheel drive. No LSD.
GSX= turbo and awd.

Eagle:
TSi Turbo = FWD and turbo. no lsd.
TSi awd = turbo, awd.

Plymouth:
Laser RS = FWD and turbo
Laser RS AWD = AWD, turbo.

any dsm besides the 6 up top not worth driving. 1st gen's rule! 2nd gen dsm's suck! bubbly looking crank walking pieces of shit!

Oh yeah..

1st gen's 90-94 turbo's come with 195hp and 200lbs of torque.

2nd gen's come with 210hp and around the same amount of torque as first gen. But keep in consideration that the 2nd gen weigh's a couple hundred pounds more for each model. Airbag's, unneccessary shit, etc etc....

Lol, thanks for the diamond star lesson. Appreciated - I can never remember the difference. Funny story, my friend Dan works at a collision center, and they have an Eclipse GST in there where the kid blew the turbo up. It's great - right where the turbo-bump on the hood is, is just a charred black stain on a white car, it blew his front bumper clean off (which he promptly ran over) and smoked the fender, popped the driver's tire. I couldn't help but laugh.

Yeah his 95 is like a low 15 second car stock. SO maybe he could get a 15.0 with the free mods? It wouldnt be a big win but i think id have the upper hand, he knows he may not win cuz he doesnt know whats done to my car so thats why he makes excuses not to try. I raced my other ex friends younger brother in his 92 talon TSI- awd. Both of these guys are friends. This when i was stock except weld in flows and a K&N filter..so maybe 5 horses. Anyways the light turned green and we both took off altho i was going normal speed cuz i didnt know he wanted to race, so he was like a whole car in front of me and took off...his is a 5 speed by the way, i hit it and time we got 60 i was ahead by a car length then let off, which later he thought he thought i just ran out of steam and he beat me with the ricer flyby. Now i know all he has is free mods and a different intake so i know i could take his car for sure now since mine is a half second faster then back then.

We do....Raced a GST convertable, 1-2 stayed with me, middle of 2nd he was a bumper and a half ahead. 3rd and I was walking away......

i've owned 2 dsm's. They are moving grenades..I've seen a video of a GSX 2nd gen racing a m3. Motherfucking piston SHOT OUT OF THE HOOD OF THE CAR! Damn they are fast though, you can put alittle bit of cash maybe 3,000 and you got yourself a car in the 12's easily.

it did not shoot a piston out of the hood.

blew the stock 7 bolt when the dude was running 400+ at the wheels.it blew the parts into the firewall and the guy had pictures of it on dsmtalk.

i raced a first gen DSM in my supra a few years ago. He had an extra passenger, i took him off the line cause he wasn't ready and half way through second i hear him screaming up on me, he was going to blow by me in 3rd but all of a sudden his car started smoking like crazy, we both pulled over and im not sure exactly what he did, maybe blew his headgasket, but anyway he said his car was good for 12s and i believe him since my supra ran a [email protected] with no traction, probably could have gotten my supra into the mid 13s with slicks, and the DSM was much faster then my car.

Those cars can fly. There is a reason that the same engine has been used in that car with minor modifications, and in the Evo's, for like 12+ years. The first gen DSM 4 bolt was the most reliable, I believe, once you start gettin into the high horsepower numbers. Owned a 2nd gen, should have been somehwere in the 13's, but never took it to the track. Look in the photo gallery, and you'll see why. Pain in the ass to fix if I ever screwed up with it out there.
