OK, so who already has a deposit down on a new RedLine?

A deposit on a car that you haven't seen, haven't driven, hell it isn't even built yet! No idea what options it has or even 100% sure what colors are available.

Yes, I am crazy and stupid because I gave my dealer half of this months rent money to have the first one they get! And I can't wait!

How much of a deposit do they require you to put down? I'm getting one of the redlines, maybe around the middle of next year. I can't decide between the ION or the VUE.
I think it varies by dealer. My dealer asked for $500 and a credit application. I have heard some people have put down as little as $200 and as much as $1000.

I doubt there will be many left by the middle of next year though. Word is they will only make 5000 of them. I suspect those will be sold rather quickly. They only made 2500 of the yellow ones and the only thing special about those was that they where yellow. Those sold out in less than a month.

2500 what? Cars? Just yellow sold in one month? What car are you talking about? They only made 3200 03 srt's and those lasted just fine.
Don't even try to go toe-to-toe with a SPOC member when it comes to Saturn Trivia Tim, you'll be killed, buried out back, and they'll steal your life insurance...

The 2500 yellow's he was talking about were the special edition yellows, I think with black roofs, possibly the specials were all yellow, that sold out as fast as they could be built. The car world does not revolve around the midtown yellow SRT-4, get used to it... Oh yeah, the Saturns were Yellow, not pretend yellow like the WRX and SRT versions of the color...

Oh yeah, more than 3700 2003 SRT-4s were built, not all of them have sold yet...

That's amazing, 2500 cars in 1 month! Dale.... your opinion, that of 37 year old guy who walks around saying "yo" all day, means zilch :p . Since when has Saturn been the "real" anything? I like the concept of the Redline, but this is a first for them. I thought the official number of 03's was 3275?

Go back to the SVT Taurus board Tim... you'll find sympathy there....

Are you talking about the special edition 2001 yellow SC2s with the black roofs and black and yellow leather? 99 of those were only made.

Is there any date yet for actual orders (in the computers, not just dealer holding my money for me) yet?

If Saturn does nothing else right with the release of this car, I hope they do the following two things... release it nationwide rather than test markets, and release Blue in the first year of production....

I'd really like to get the RL. I just need to make a desision to put the $500 down on it. Then when it comes available, i'll want to trade my 03 sedan for it. Good question Dale, is there an exact order date??? who knows?

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the trivia knowledge. Let me see if I can fil in the gaps. I haven't finished reading this thread so this may have already been answered.

There where orginally 100 yellow 2001 SC2s produced with the black and yelllwo leather interior and black top. There where auctioned off to raise money for the Red Cross. They mostly got sold in the south through special dealers. There was minimal press on these and by the time I found out about they where already gone.

Then they built 1000 'regular' yellow '01 SC2s these where alocated about 1 or 2 per dealer depending on previous sales figures for that dealer. My dealer got 2. I got one and the other went to an employee. Most of these were delivered in March and April of 2000.

A few months later a second batch was proiduced becuase of the high demand. This batch numbered somewhere between 1000 and 1500. Estimates vary, unfortunately the offical production numbers released by GM don't break down the colors. Rememeber the only thing different about this car is that it was yellow. A honest to goodness, GM, Corvette, yellow. Not that pansy crap you see on Suby's, Neons, and VWs.

With the high demand for a limited edition Saturn with nothing going for it other than the color you can imagine what the Saturn faithful will do to a limited edition that actually has some oomph!

As for actual productions numbers for the Redline i have heard anything from 1000 to 5000. Regardless it won't be enough to meet demand and that will be part of the whole vuiral marketing effort.

No, there was only 99 made. They were made in honor of the "Group of 99" who laid the groundwork for Saturn in 1984.

Yes, you are correct there was only 99 of the orginal special editions of the limited edition. So I was off by one.
