I was browsing on ebay, and saw some HID kits that fit the 9007 series light bulb assemblies. Aparently the balast plugs into the existing headlinght plugs, then from the balast it goes to the bulb itself. $400 though.

I guess I am askin if it is possible to install it in our headlight assembily without any detrimental effects (melting, cracking, etc.)

Thanks guys

ive bought one of those kits before, for my last saturn. it should work just fine.....i actually am planning on buying an hid kit for my car sometime this week. if u want ill let u know how it works out.

but yeah, those "no wiring needed" kits really are sweet.....it can be a pain to find places to mount the ballasts, but its not too bad if u know how to take ur bumper off, otherwise ur gonna use zip ties, hahaha.

I am pretty sure that there can be an issue with a larger power draw through stock wiring with HID aftermarkets. Anyone know for sure if this is a legit concern?
They don't draw anymore power, in fact the bulbs draw less. I have them in my SC2 and they are awesome. However, I was going to put them in my RL, but would rather waste the money on go go part. This is my daily, so I don't want to put too much money into it...

I have them on my RL right now and the install is simple as hell. I had to break a few plastic prongs on the headlight assembly(sp), but it was really no big deal. I bought mine off ebay, but they aren't there anymore for some reason. Either way, IMO, they are worth the money. And just like Tom said, they take less energy and produce less heat, so there isn't any concern there. I bought a 12k kit from Mecca Tune and they are unlike any other hid color that i've ever seen. Actually, if you look farther into visual mods you will find another discussion we had awhile ago about this subjuect and I had actually posted some pics of mine.

They look pretty sweet man. That's one downfall that I wished this car came with, these type of headlights. The SVT Focus comes with them and they look sweet. Maybe I'll save up and get some over the summer...
Thanks for findin' those pics for me. Yeah, they do look pretty badass.
