How much to tint the windows on the RL?

My buddy has 35% done on his car and it looks good, not too dark, you can still see in a lil, but you can tell they are tinted. Thats what I am prolly going to do in the spring.

Has anyone tinted there windows yet, and if you have what percentage are did you do it?


I'm waiting for spring so I can pull the RL out of the garage!

I got 20% tint and my car is a black RL it looks very dark and it does a good job of blocking the sunlight + it looks cool! and the black RL definetely looks better with the windows tinted.

I was going to go with 15% but maybe that will have been too dark and may risk getting a ticket but the 20% I got is plenty dark and you could still see the interior from outside the car.

I tinted my windows. I have a black redline and I got 2 1/2% on all the back glass 2 1/2% on the front, passenger and driver windows, and 35% on the windshield... Talk About Dark.......

do u guys have any problems seeing at night with that tint, i want to get it but cant find a place i trust to do it down here

I don't know about the night visibility in the 2 1/2% tint, that pretty dark! the only car I think I have ever ride with that dark of tint is a limo! but I think he said he has 35% on the windshield so he could probably see fine from windshield.

Mine is 20% all over except windshield that has factory and it you can see fine at night. previous car had 15% all over except windshield and you could still see at night but it had light interior and I believe if it would have dark interior it could have been hard to see at night.

I got my windows tinted at about 25%, i can see out them fine during the day and at night. it does a good job of keeping out the light a while still allowing clear visibilty. It also makes the car look a lot more aggressive. I payed about $110, but thats for lifetime replace placement so if it ever tears or peels im set. when i get a chance ill put some pics up.

I have Major probs backing up at night, but normal day driving I am fine. The tint helps out alot in hot weather, it keeps your car nice and cool. But in the cool climate it takes a wile to warm up.

Mine Was $150 but I had the hookups. You are probly looking at $200-$300 If they do it right.

I got my car tinted limo (5%) all the way around except the front windshield. Tinting that might not be the brightest thing in the world, however, it looks gorgeous that way (very illegal). I had tint put on by the dealer, on their tab. Had to have it removed and retinted, my guy charged me 160 bucks...

Limo tint on back window and 2 back side windows. Would like to get 35% on the front side windows but anything tinted lower than the 4" from the top is illegal in Michigan...even though I see a ton of cars that have all windows tinted (besides windshield)

We can't tint the side, front windows at all here in Chicago. I know lots of people that seem to do it though, see em driving alot. But, when I got my plates changed from FL to IL, my car was DARK tint all around except for the windshield. Got pulled over around 4 times in about 6 days, $75 a pop for the tickets, had to take it off the sides fast!

Better check your local laws

Sp00ner is right. Most states allow only up to ~35% tinting. Anyhow, I did mine a while back, anything cheaper than $150, you better make sure they are reputable, because these films can be more trouble than you ever imagine if not done right, bubbling, peeling, cracking, uneven tinting, just to name a few thing.

i payed $230 for a stellar job.

I would only ever tint my windows with 20% Ti-Film
its a bit thicker and guarenteed not to fade or change colors


I guess just preferance.

I thought I'd like having tinted windows. It's nice when it's sunny but a bitch to see thru at night.

Got 38% done all around by a local guy for around $210. Did a really nice job, though I do kind of wish I'd gone a bit darker. This was the first car I've tinted and I wasn't sure what would look the best.

Next time I'll probably go for 20%.

I paid 130 for my. Its 20% it looks good. With lifetime warranty....

Yeah thats why i was going to do like 35% all around and leave the windshield alone... that way its not very dark but dark enough to make it look good

I have mine tinted to 8% limo tint....its crazy dark but it looks great....and spooner i live in chicago also and yes its very illegal......so what where in chicago are u
