hey all, i'm rather new here and honestly, i only showed up to learn a little more about these cars. i met a great guy the other day here in port richey/spring hill that managed to stay on the bumper of my 86 shelby charger, and that doesn't happen often, much less with a saturn. surprised the hell out of me. who'd a thunk it? i love it. he pointed me here and gave me his screen name...redlinekid, but i can't seem to find it. if anybody knows the guy, point him my way, because i'd like to talk some more about this little rocket from saturn. hell, i talked about it all day at work!! if anybody is interested, my charger has a mitsu-turboed 2.5 with no cat and a conquest/starion intercooler pushing around 13psi right now with a hybrid transmission. my best time in the 1/4 was [email protected] and a 2.1 60ft. and i never THOUGHT this saturn would stay on my bumper. time to get that bigger turbo, eh?

Hey there buddy, just to clear things up, it was my brother that you saw in port richey. He doesnt have a sn on here yet but he gave you mine just so you can check this place out probobly. We both have black redlines but you can definately tell them apart. Mine has 3inch exhaust with a magnaflow muffler so you can hear the difference lol :) . Feel free to ask any questions about our cars there are alot of ppl on here that can help you out.

Fortunately, all the SRT-4 owners on here are pretty cool guys.

Welcome to the forum. The domestic sport compacts are on the come up. Soon, you may get passed by a Redline or Cobalt. :D

So how fast were you going for him to keep up with you. I mean was it a race? Were you in traffic?

might want to get some extra cash to save up for a new manifold...iirc, i heard that the stock one cand handle much extra hp before needing replaced?? but, it wont take much for a poor ol saturn to eventually surpass the srt :) those jet cooled pistons are nifty :D

i've already replaced the stock manifold with the later style one piece. made it MUCH easier to intercool. and as for how fast we were going, well, i don't want to publish it, but it was faster than everybody else, and there wasn't any real traffic anywhere to worry about. and yes, i DO pay more attention than most people. for the record, the only accident i've had in the last 9 1/2 years of driving was this past october, when i got rear ended on my motorcycle AT A STOP LIGHT. minding my own business waiting for the light to change. enough about that. we were going less than the speed limit when we started, heh heh. what gets me is that i run the first 1/8 in 9.1 seconds with a good short time, which is kind of high for a 13.9 second pass, i think. the second 1/8 is definately more fun for me. which reminds me...how much boost are these redlines getting from the supercharger in stock form? ooooh yeah, i'm shopping a bigger turbo right now, colin. tee hee hee.
thanks

I may be mistaken Macncheese, but did you say you had an 86 Shelby Charger?? Is it a GLHS or just plain ol shelby? Did you swap out the 2.2 T1? I know a lot of people were changing them out with the 2.5's. I used to own an 85 Omni GLH-T, and man that thing could haul. I've been looking for a Shelby Charger in these parts for a while, but i will settle for a CSX VNT or a Shelby lancer.

it's a plain old shelby charger, and yeah, i swapped out the 2.2 for a 2.5. i love it, no matter what people say about being able to rev the 2.2. here's a thought....shift gears!!! i had a guy swap a 3.50 diff into an a-555 transmission (stock 3.85 diff) to stretch the gears out and really make use of my torque. it gets that light car moving, and i seem to run fastest when i shift at 4500 rpms or so.

I used to have an 85 GLH-T. Only things i did to that was open up the exhaust a little and add a mopar perf computer, pulled 14psi if i remember correctly. Lots of surprised people when i would spank them in that. Wish i still had it, but the car was too much to maintain and i had a kid on the way at that time. But, I am in the market for another TD.
