I was at a car show today and prople kept asking me quesitons about my RL, some I could answer, some I couldn't. So I need everyones help. Heres a list of questions I didn't know the answers to.

1. "Where is the intercooler??"
2. "What brand is the supercharger?"
3. "Would a cone filter in place of the airbox make the supercharger whine louder? It seems kinda quiet."
4. "Is there any way to make the 'blowby'(??) louder?"
5. "Whats the stock exhaust size?"
6. "Would a gutted cat make this thing faster?"

Thanks guys. I gained a lot of respect for saturn today.

1. Directly beneath the supercharger.
2. It's an Eaton M62.
3. Yes, it would.
4. I doubt it.
5. 2.5" for the most part, 2.25" just before the muffler.
6. Probably not, since the cat is already pretty high-flow.

It's an air-to-water intercooler. The air comes out through the bottom of the supercharger, passes through the intercooler, and into the head. It just like a radiator, except backwards. Instead of passing air cooling water, it has coolant to cool the air that's going into the head. The coolant is circulated with its own small electric water pump.

That was fast, but could you explain how the intercooler cools if it is under the supercharger??
dude, see that big shiny metal thing when you look at the giant hole in the front of the car?

thats the intercooler

I was lead to believe that all the exhaust was 2.25" in linenoyz, but I havent looked yet, need to get this baby on the lift at my friends shop!

nice set of cars too linenoyz, I'm kinda jealous, my dad has the same, 04 RL and a 99 SS, I drive me both whilst my SC2 is getting an engine rebuild

The exhaust system is almost completely 2.5". There is one section (the last 3 ft or so before the muffler) that is stepped down to 2.25" for some odd reason.

I had that piece of pipe changed to 2.5" and put a 14" Magnaflow on mine and can feel the difference. It probably only gained about 2 or 3 horses but it's enough to be able to tell.

the intercooler is integrated into the intake manifold, the heat exchanger is part of the radiator (you can see where the coolant enters/exits). if you notice, no air is directed to the front of the car, hinting that the intercooler is not located in the front of the car.

The big shiny metal thing is the radiator, not the intercooler. There is a small unit for the intercooler, but that's not it.

Thanks, btw. :)
