Just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Jeff Silva and I've been addicted to modifying Saturns since 1998. I'm pretty active in the S-series Saturn performance community. I've helped test and develop many products for Saturns. Right now our team is working on a 91 SL2 that we've been racing since 2000. We've been working on a turbocharged powerplant for about a year. And we hope to get to the track by the end of next month.

I'll be visiting this forum often. I try to keep informed on what's going on in the Saturn world. I'm glad to see that a community has sprouted around the RedLine's and I hope more performance parts come around soon.

That's about it. :D

I have a video of your car, I think, smoking a slightly older model Corvette on a drag strip, I'm almost positive. The more I look at this car, and hear your name, I'm positive this is the car in the video I saw. The guys working the tape could be heard the whole time. They're kinda pokin fun at the flamed Saturn, and then when the race starts one of them yells "Holy shit!!", REAL loud. Then there's silence as the Satty pulls ahead...

Is it this one?

That was at the street legals at California Speedway in August of 03. There were about 20 Saturn owners there for the Temecula meet. We would have done better if we were running on all 4 cylinders. The #4 injector wires were stretched somehow and werent making any connection to the injector. So the only fuel that cylinder saw was from the nitrous nozzle. We didn't find this problem out until two weeks later at Sacramento raceway. After we fixed that problem we did a 12.55. :D

That's EXACTLY the ones! I was wrong about the picking on the Saturn part I guess, that your people filming it? That was the video that made me go out and start looking at making my SC2 a race car of some sort. Now I have the Redline, partially due to that video! Wel-fucking-come to the forums...

I pray to god you can help us get some aftermarket support for this car!
Awesome! That's exactly what we're trying to accomplish with the race car. To get people interested in Saturns (new and old) and to go out there and start modifying them. The more people that want aftermarket parts, the more likely manufacturers will be willing to make them for us.

I'm more than glad to help get parts developed for the new Saturns. But I can't do it alone ya know. If people want parts made they have to proove to the manufacturers that it's worth it for them to make the parts for us. So that means you have to go to races in large numbers. Don't e-mail or call manufacturers. That doesnt usually work. We as a community need to prove to them that we are worthy of their time and investment of money in products.

So start gathering in large numbers and go to the drag races. Manufacturers don't care how fast you are. If you show up in numbers and show that you're willing to spend money to make your cars faster, they're going to make parts for you.

When 20 Saturns show up to an event they will catch the attention of the entire crowd. When we went to the street legals in Fontana we did just that. There's not much the s-series owners can do to get more parts made. But Redline owners can. It's a matter of getting out there and showing what your cars can do. They're high performance SATURNS from the factory. This is just crazy ya know! :)

Jeff and his team (Mike and John) are all great guys. I've had a chance to hang out with these guys on and off the track. Definitely a good group right there, definitely devoted to the whole Saturn scene. I was at the track watching that first run against the Vette. The announcer was talking a lot of smack, which made it even sweeter when Jeff won.

Hope to see the car back in action with the turbo, definitely try and be out there cheering you guys on. That and offering you some more Stoli Raspberry Vodka ;)

Tom
You guys gonna be in the Chicago area for any events?

Good gawd NO. If I see that stuff I throw up. I can't believe how sick I got off of that. I've been on a beer only diet since.

Not any time soon. Maybe once I get a job and Mike gets some vacation time we'll head out that way to the SPC rally in the next couple years. We always try to plan at least one get together a year where people can meet up. We might still do one in Vegas this year. Last year people just flew out so we could all meet up and hang out without the headaches of dealing with racing our cars or whatnot. We'll see what happens though. I need to get a job first. :)
