There was a forum over at saturnmotorsports sayin that they tested the redline ions K&N intake and saw a 13 hp gain. THey also said that it will be available late january. Hopefully this is true, i would take that over what aem is puttin out. With the header this intake and a nice muffler i think we shouldnt be doing to bad! Lets wait and see. :D

13 HP!

I hope that's true.

If they are releasing theirs in late January, then they'll beat AEM to the punch anyways.

AEM emailed another forum member saying it'll be another 3 months before they release theirs.

The truth about AEM is that they don't even know when it is going to come out. The "tech" guy is a moron. At first he was trying to tell me that the intake coming out for the redline was a CAI, and I insisted that it was a SRS. After arguing I was like looking it up in your directory. "Oh i must have been looking at the wrong part number" The first time I spoke with him he said that it was in R&D waiting for CARB approval & should only be a few more weeks. The second time I talked to him he told me that It would be at least another few months, due to production of the intake. The third time I spoke with him he said he wasn't really sure wether or not the intake actually has been started. He told me that AEM will list products on their website a few months before work is even started to generate interest in the product, and that determines wether or not they will complete the product order or not. I asked to speak with an engineer @ AEM but every time I call they are "away from their desks at this moment"

Don't be too hopeful of the AEM Intake. Maybe K&N Will get there's out and we can all be happy. Anyone here a wholesale supplier for K&N? My buddy is I'm going to see if he can find out any information about the intakes for our car. (Since they'll be more cooperitive for a wholeseller)

Again, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. K&N Engineering has confirmed they have not started the intake for the Ion RL and it will be another 3 months before they get to start it. As far as the filter, there is currently none available (regardless of the one listed on one of the other sites). He stated people must be confused with the Vue data. They plan on starting on the filter in the next few weeks which means another three months unless they cross it with the E-1009. But if it was that simple, they would have done it by now.

I'll probably buy the E-1009 when I get the header in the next week (I hope) and spend some more money when the authentic filter is release in a few months. With the F/I, I suspect they may make some changes to the E-1009 design.

What about this one?

This one is really for the VUE?

Yeah, um, people have already bought and installed one on the ion redline. Did he tell you this in between hits from his bong? Listen for bubbling sounds next time you talk to him on the phone.

Just because it's posted on someone's web site doesn't mean it's an authorized part. I always do my homework. Go to the K&N website and do yours. This is an adult forum, quit with the bong comments.

So SPS just discovered on their own that it would fit in the RL but it's not actually an "authorized" part for our car?

Well, people have had success using them and I'm sure it's better than the filters we have on there now. Since niether AEM or K&N will have an intake available for another 3 or 4 months I'm just gonna bite the bullet and get one.

Anyone know the REAL K&N part number for that filter? I wanna check if any of the performance stores in my area have one rather than have to wait for a mail order one.

I ordered mine through spswebpage.com

The K&N part number is E-1009. No it's not "authorized" by K&N because all spswebpage did was remove the stock filter from the redline, measure it, and order a K&N filter that was the same size. (Just better flow)

Call up advanced auto parts. You can get this filter from them for like... 55 dollars or so. More than likely this will be the cheapest place unless you know a wholesaler of K&N products

Just did a "store locator" search on the Advanced Auto site. There isn't a store anywhere near me. By anywhere near me, I mean in Fort Worth OR Dallas.

I'm sure someone else carries them. I'll just have to do some research now. :D

Well I had my car at K&N about a week ago. They had my redline for over a week. They dynoed it and all this stuff they even took apart the exhaust system. What they told me was that it will be in production in mid january and I can get it then. I was there in riverside at their building and thats what they told me. Just letting you know.

In production AND availabe? Or do we have to still wait an additional 3 or 4 months for CARB approval?

Did they clue you in on power gains? Is it gonna be a CAI or short ram?

thats messed up
Hey K&N is really cool so don't bad mouth them please. They gave me a rental car free of charge for the time they had my car and I get the intake for free. I thinks it's fair.

They said that I get the final intake in january. They tested a prototype on my car and they said it was pretty much done. I should get it in January so we will see.
