Keep the RL or get an EVO 8?

I havent had my RL for very long, but the lack of aftermarket support is just killing me, so I have been sitting on a lump of cash. I also got a promotion at with, and my pay increase is about 350% so I figured if I can afford it, why not? The car is a "Lightning Yellow" EVO 8 with the Leather, Sun, and Sound package. It's an 04 that they have had for a while, so they are discounting it pretty well to get it off the lot. My RL only has about 3000 miles, but with the deal I got on it I wont have any negetive equity. Do you think I should go for it?

Id get it. Thats a loaded question isnt it.
GO for it!!
go for it, too bad the yellow has so much white in it. If it was more of a corvette yellow i'd be in love with it. But it is fast and sexy, get it!
I was debating between a WRX Sti, a EVO, and the SRT-4, as far as being able to mod the hell out of it, it was the SRT-4, the evo is boosted within an inch of its life out of the box, but the aftermarket scene is far superior. Awesome car though, and with some simple bolt on's it can really produce. But beware the damn dealership, they virtually do not offer any coverage on their warantys, Friend got turned away at every dealership, and he was not racing when the diff blew, just turning left in a parking lot. But I guess this applies where ever you go. I would go for it man, if you can afford it then grab life by the horns, wait thats dodge, hmm, what is mitsu . .'s catch frase anyway.

Dodge and Mitsu are in bed together anyway.

I say definitely. There isn't one reason not to get a car like that if it won't put you in financial duress.
Uhh...don't drive it up North in NJ.

I hear there's some pretty fast RL's up there.... :D
I test drove the EVO 8 too and actually it was my first choice, it is an awesome car and don't let people or magazines tell you about its turbo lag because I didn't feel turbo lag especially compared to other cars like the WRX now that car has turbo lag. Great car, great choice, the reason I didn't get one was because it was about $300 more every 6 months on car insurance and even though I could afford one I am very cheap and also the RL is an awesome car too, plenty fast, got mine for $17000 thats at least $12000 less than the EVO can't beat that deal specially considering how much I liked the RL I couldn't justify my cheap self the extra $12000. But If you want it and can afford it get it!

However, I think specially now with the cobalt SS there is going to be more aftermarket support in the future for the RL although it won't be like the support for the EVO.
Awesome car! If it's what you really want, then get it. That's the best thing to do!
It's all about what you feel like spending on a car. I basically dumped a '04 STi for my RL because I had a differnet set of priorities than were allowed by a $365 car payment compared to a $170 car payment, not to mention insurance. The EVo is a great ride if you don't mind not having a warranty or a solid company to back the vehicle.

Teh evo doesnt spool till 4 grand, that is turbolag no matter how you spin it, WRX's spool faster.

But I still like evo's, thats what my dad wanted for DD but couldnt justify dropping that much on a DD so he got the RL

And don't listen to the BS about no company or warrenty, mitsu is going nowhere in the forseeable future
If you wanna go fast & look good doin' it, keep the RL. If you wanna go fast, spend sh!tloads of money, & have the look of an econo-box with a body kit, get the EVO.
i'd get the evo, especially if you live anywhere it snows

are you saying the RL isnt an econobox with a bodykit

cuz thats EXACTLY what it is

sorry, I love redlines, but evo's are better cars with way more potential. The 4g63 is a very proven motor that is very well built, and it has a stout drivetrain that has been proven to be strong for years
Theres really no competition between the two. The EVO is basically one step shy of being a full blown race car. Get it and love it.

That statment makes you an idiot.
Considering that the stock hp to hp isnt even comparable. The EVO's tuning capability far surpasses the RL. Ill start with the motor, Its turbocharger 2.0 pushes out the power stock that the RL would dream of. Buy a 100.00 boost controller and your turning good numbers. That doesnt include any supporting mods like exaust, intake, ecu burn, or fuel system. Now for the drivetrain. AWD what more do i say, Tha car out handles and has a faster 60' foot time and a faster 1320. Need i say more?

Yes.

Considering that there is a wide variety of performance shops that are strictly dedicated to the evo. And there is even more online parts places just for the evo.

Do some research saturn boy, econo box or not it will knock your socks off. So take your saturn and invest the money into it and your still slower than the evo.

Peace out

Oh and another thing.

What is fast to you??

I hope for the love of god, that 14 seconds in the 1320 isnt fast to you. Have you ever been behind the wheel of a "Fast" car. Try 10 seconds or faster. That is fast.

11-13 is quick

14-30 seconds is utter pathetic and you need some razorblade thearpy.

You own 3 copies of Fast and the Furious huh?

Excuse me??
I dont argue with people that have to put there credit card #'s in the phone to talk to "their girlfriend".

Its common sense that a 30k sports car will out perform a saturn.
