5th gear syncro p/n EM19911WJH. It is discontinued, and I haven't found any at dealers, etc. This is required to complete the repair of an Ion RL Comp transmission.
No doubt your suggestion is spot on. I was just hoping to find an owner with some parts squirreled away since mine has very low miles. The rest of the story: I purchased my like-new Redline from a dealer in 2009 with 30K miles. Unfortunately, the synchro went out at about 34K miles. It was a daily driver at the time, so I had a used one dropped in. Given the low mileage, I hung onto it with the intention of getting it repaired to serve as a spare, or upgrade my wife's '04 Redline. I called a few transmission shops, but none did manuals. Figuring that would be a universal story, I dropped the hunt. Hoping to stumble onto a lead some day, I continued to hang onto it anyway. Well, it happened a few months back. I made an appointment to have the axle bearings replaced on my '06. My mechanic was sure it was the transmission, so he refered me to Annapolis Transmission and Auto Repair. Funny thing, with a generic name like that, they only do manuals. Turns out, it just needed axle bearings. When the shop finally got to my broken spare, they hunted down and found all the needed parts (some in the UK) except for the synchro. Hence, I thought I might as well try here. My next step is to try to buy a broken one with a good syncho. These guys are okay with doing that (if they feel the part is in very good condition) when they can't find discontinued parts. Thanks for taking the time to reply. You may have better luck finding a trans to throw in it. I can't remember the last time I saw someone just selling synchros for one of these
