Had planned to drive the Neon, but the heavy snow took off the front bodykit fascia, so it is doing only local duty for now. So now I'm planning on driving the Redline and will be in Citrus county, Homosassa to be exact. I know Spring Hill is south on US 19, any crusing spots or meeting places that go on during the week? I'll be heading back to Ohio on Sat the 8th, so I only have the weekdays.

Will you be available on mon 1-3-05 or will you be on the road to fl that day? If available we could meet in Sringhill and I'll intoduce you to the 5 R.L.'s that live here.....which is easy because 4 of the 5 live with me. I'm off that day, so I could give you the local scoop, do lunch and introduce you to the guy's at our local dealership...which is where it all began. I'll see if Scooter can get some other guys from the Fl. Chapter of S.T.C. ( saturn Tuners Club ) to meet at the Official " Dive " that evening or whatever. BTW what's your age? Bars or not. Either way let me know and I'll try to give you a nice Fl. welcome. Barry

My last trip down was in the Neon and I made the 1100 miles in 15.5 hrs (last year's spring break tuner bash in Daytona). We all know that the RL is way faster than the Neon, it's just a matter of avoiding the road tax agents ( read that cops w/lasers) If the weather is good all the way and I leave at 2:30 am, I could be in Homosassa around 5:30 - 6:00 pm on Monday.

I am probably the oldest Redline owner, I just turned 50 on Dec 15th. (you're never too old to have "toys"). I have the mentality of a 20-something, and the buying power of his Dad. --- works for me... Not much into bars and such, gave that up in the 80's while running on a match race circuit. I learned the value of always being sober while in a moving vehicle. ( and while on the occasional stationary bar stool :D )

[begin rant] One of the main reasons I'd like to meet up sometime during the week is to check out one of the lowered Redlines. I most certainly want to get rid of the American 4x4 look of the wheel wells. I see a newer Saab 9-3 Turbo in our parking lot that is at least a full 1.5 to 2" lower than our Redlines and it is supposed to be built on a similar platform. This is where GM f'd up. They did killer styling and then gave us wheel well eyebrows with a higher arch than an old painted whore. I would like the BMW or AMG look in the wheel well dept., not our Z-71 4x4 off-road look. [end rant]

Either way, I'll be staying at my Mother's place and she has broadband, so I'll check in on the forum when I roll into town. BTW, the wife and I are thinking about hitting the Tuner Bash again this year on Mar 17 & 18, maybe we could organize a group showing to combat the import/european crowd. Just a thought.

Not me, My Mother retired there back in '87. She lives on Greenacres St, east of US19. I've been to Fl so many times since '87 that driving around Central FL is almost second nature. The wife and I hope to move to Fl at retirement time, which could be as early as five years.

It's 3:30 AM and I'm out the door. I'll need the break to see some of the Redline owners. My Mother has a list of things to do that will take a month or better. This is no vacation run at all, more like help out mom week. I will get on her computer when I get there to set up a meet.

Well, I arrived @ 9:00 pm in Homosasa. I took a 47 min car wash/dinner break in GA., gas stops equaled 52 minutes ( 5 of them), and left my driveway at approx. 4:15 AM. My trip log yields the following: 14 hrs:56 min driving time, 99 min of stop time. 16 hrs:36 min total trip time. That is my personal best for this trip. Average speed while driving:70.54 MPH, most of the trip was with the cruise set at 80 MPH. North of Charlotte, NC and 1/2 of I-95 in Ga was a 65 MPH at best and US 301 from Balwwin, FL to Ocala was 65 MPH except for the small speedtrap towns.

Anyone who wants to know how well the Redline handles, just take a trip to the West Virginia Turnpike (or All of I-77 in WV in that case.) and take the hills and curves at 80 MPH. Little body roll and the car feels confident in the turns. The Neon with the independent rear suspension and 205-40-17 tires tracked really well on one trip, but it's steering is not as solid and responsive and the Redline's.` If you've never been on the WV TP. there are a few 5% down grades with 80 to 95 degree turns at the bottoms and it is a 2 1/2 hour drive of twists and turns with mountains thrown in. Nothing like the "grapevine" in CA, but it still puts fear in most drivers going down that road at 60 MPH. The Redline makes it FUN!

Barry - Goofyguy, I have top go to the Orlando area (Orange County courthouse) to record a deed and I'm thinking of doing this on Thurs morning. I then have to do a quick stop concerning my timeshare then back to this area. Other than that, I am flexable as to when we can all meet up. If you will PM me a meeting area or contact info we can set something up.

I realized that last week when we got 18" dumped on us. It is even more evident now as I had a 78 degree & sunny day while it was 38 and snowy back in Ohio. I was bummed for a week after the first time the Redline went over salt covered roads, thinking that it never happens to the FL crowd. You should see the underside of my Mother's 1987 LeBaron, no rusty crud like our northern cars. Poor Redline, poor Redline...

we do have these special critters called lovebugs that make it fair. Where your underbody gets torn up these little acid filled monsters come out 2x a year for a month. They are attracted to road from the exhaust for some reason and hover there till they are hit by cars. The cars down here look Nasty after the usual 4 mile trips like a frigin black polka dots. Well these animals blood are acidic and eat at paint the instants they hit it begins. You have to wash your car every day or they will pit the paint. And if you wait to long the blood becomes harder than concrete and thats it for the paint job. Now imagne when you hit a bug on the windshield. That splat become a small splat of acid. Welcome to Florida.
