Man, what an improvement.

I took off the red pinn stripes and red logo off the back bumper. Then I painted the hood and front fender emblems black where it used to be red. (see my black emblem thread if you'd like to know how I did it) Next, I took the "ION" and Redline badge off of the trunk.

Damn it looks sharp and fucking MEAN now!!!!

I don't know if I'll powder coat the rims black like I was planning to do now. I really like the way that the shiny chrome sets the look of the car off now that it's completely black. I just need to lower it and tint the windows and all of my visual mods will be complete.

I like the fact that no one will know it's an RL without the badge. Hell, if they don't know their cars, they won't even know it's an Ion. All they'll know is it's a Saturn if they look hard enough. But....they'd better look fast because I'll be flying by them while they scratch their heads wondering. LOL!!!

Hey dude, post some pics up, I'm actually intriguied to see what a couple of things can do for the look. I'm the soon-to-be owner of a black RL. I'm actually only 15 years old but I know a thing or two about cars. I read all the sportcompact car mags and read everything else to do with cars. My RL is currently being demoed and I'm not gonna get it for another month or so but w/e. I'd really like to see some pics tho, I'm sure other people would too. Hit that up. Cya later.

I thought about taking the Ion badge off along with the little Red Line badge. I am definately changing the emblems to black.

I tried to contact a powder coating place here in MI, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Want to get my rims PC'ed gun metal, keeping a polished lip of course.

My car going into the body shop on monday for a new 05 rear bumber cover and to get both rear quaters replace. After a moron hit me 2 weeks ago The good thing is I'm losing the lock hole for the trunk. I think that will look sweet. Working on using a red or blue LED in the Hood saturn emblem. I order on from the deal and I'm going to mess with it monday.

How are you gonna do the LED setup in the hood emblem? Sounds interesting.

I saw some pics of a black one a while back that didn't have any pin stripes. I had been contemplating removing them ever since and just finally said, "screw it" and did it. I'm glad I did. I did like the red pins too but I like it this way even more.

On a side note, my almost 4 year old son was upset with me for taking the red stripe off my car. He said that was his favorite part. My wife liked it better with the stripe too and she doesn't like the emblems black either. I just told her, "hey, it's MY car and I like it."

If they ever get back to me, I'll let you know. It's a place in Grand Rapids. They are called Coatings Plus. It seems they have a pretty cool setup, and they offer a guaranty. We'll see.

If you want black emblems all you have to do is take them off then seperate the red insert from the chrome frame paint or cover the red insert with the color of your choice, reassemble and reinstall.

I order a new one from my dealership should be in this week. I going to take it apart and use some micro LEDs. I have already change the Dash to Blue LEDs looks really cool.....
