The car’s done this since I got it last year. While idling you can hear a noise from the lower right side of the engine bay. The best way I can describe it is two ceramic plates being rubbed together. The noise is present wether you’re stopped or going. Any ideas?

Could have a pulley going out and you are hearing the bearings grinding. The serpentine belt and all the pulleys are on the right side so it could be any of them.

Is this all the time or comes and goes?

Take the belt off and fire it up, see if the noise goes away. If it does then you know it's an accessory and not an internal engine component.

i have had a noise that comes and goes for 5 years and never figured out where it comes from

it lasts for 20-60 seconds and may not be there for months

I think it is some kind of a reset function - not sure

it is random but I had a new S2 belt and still exists
