Just got back from Saturn of Highlands Ranch. There IS a competion package, although no pricing on it yet. Looks like it will be priced out early March. THE LSD PN is 5558920, and employee cost is around 1400.00. Just thought you all would want to know.......

Installing a LSD is not the hardest thing in the world, it's not the easiest thing either though. Most people on here seem pretty capable of doing it, at least the ones with mechinanical experience. I've changed some rear-ends in older cars, but never on a FWD. How hard is it really?

1 way, 1.5 way, 2 way?
Helical, viscous, clutch, etc?

its a torsen based carrier. And installing isnt hard but very very very time consuming.

I went to the dealer two fridays ago and looked at a 05 RL with recaro seats and the salesman said they order all there 05's with LSD's for safety purposes.

don't know if it's true or not he said the one I was looking at had it.
he said they can't keep them on the lot.

what exactly is LSD i know its limited slip differential and it gives you better traction. But for $1300 is it really worth it. Is it like AWD, does it give you that good of traction when you take off or take turns...???

Basically, it helps prevents "one-wheel peel" & aids cornering traction. It's something this car is in dire need of.

There are a number of us that are going to spend much more then 1300 to have one installed on our '04s. If that gives you a hint on how important it is.

The only transmission names that come up if you search for the Redline's tranny is Gertrag...
