today there is oil leaking from my car, it couldn't have been going on for that long because i got my oil changed @ 6000 and i'm at 7600. it was noticed just BEFORE i was about to toss it on the dyno, we were just about ready and the oil was spotted. it was sad, my baby was bleeding all over the place, we think it was coming from the crank sensor, well we're pretty sure since it seemed to come out as we were looking at it.

the best part is it's christmas now, and i was about 45 minutes away from the dealer with only a half hour until they closed. they also kindly confirmed that there were no loaners in before i even brought it up. we'll see how this goes.

also, there's a valve knock now (that's what he said it was, as i told him the knocking wasn't normal) and i've got a feeling it won't be the same. so if they don't rip 'er apart and fix it, they'll be getting me a new engine, because there's no way i'm going out like that. bonus is this guy's real close to an ex-tech for that dealer, so i've got a gm certified mechanic that can help out. well, merry christmas, just needed to vent out because the wife doesn't feel the pain like i do.

I think I speak for everyone when I say we feel your pain. Good luck w/ the dealer; fight for a new engine! I've got a feeling they'd replace it before attempting any major work.

i hope so, i don't want to have to put up a fight because they say i can live with a knock in my engine. i'm pretty pissed, it's not like i should have to be too concerned with checking my oil at only seven thousand miles, and then this happens, i'll be checking MUCH more often than not.

funny thing is i checked it when others had the problem, and nothing, checked more for the couple weeks after, and i stopped because it appeared i didn't have a problem. now this, oh well, that's what a warranty is for...

Not if they do what my dealer did.

When my tranny was leaking as soon as I took it there I asked for a new tranny. "We can't do that. We have to get Saturn engineers to come look and see if it needs a new one blah blah blah."

So.......the next EIGHT times I bring it in for the same leak they tinker and fix little things here and there and once even pulled the whole thing out and did some stuff yadda yadda yadda.

Finally, the ninth time I take it in they tell me, "We think it's time to just put a new transmission in there."

NO SHIT? YA THINK SO?

Anyhow, they put the new tranny in and I've had zero leaks or problems since. They should have just done that in the first place.


Moral of the story is........

Vita, they're not just gonna get you a new engine at first but I'd fight them on it anyway cuz you never know.

i hope they don't make me put up a fight, cuz i'm pretty good at it. i just won't take the car back until there is no knocking. better be soon, or they better give me a loaner at the very least, i'm not waking up early to take my fiance to work before i go so she can use my car, then make her wait an hour for me to get to her work when i'm done...

Good Luck with the oil leak.....I noticed mine at 1800 miles(I had them fix it....they had to order the part so I was w/o for 2 days, so I had to do the taking fiance to work so I could go to work), then when I did my oil change at 2100 miles I noticed it leaking again. I still have to take it in for a number of problems so I've just been checking it regularly. BTW they said it was the cam position sensor, they said the it had cracked also said that it was happenin alot.

yup, that's what it was coming from. how bad was your leak? just a little bit of loss, or did it flow like niagra falls? mine seemed to be flowing pretty well

It was only leaking a little bit....I first noticed it when I was at my fiance's work...it was raining so when I backed out i saw the "rainbow"...
