Sounds like a great idea. One word of caution, as a former machinist, it is extremely easy to screw up this casting. Unless there is someone out there who has done the R&D to show you specifically where to port the casting, I'd steer clear of gaining HP this way.

The best bet for some inexpensive increases in HP/TQ is to get Mark from PSI or someone else to break the coding of our ECU and offer a recalibration through laptop uploads via the Internet using the existing diagnostic port. Quick and dirty means of getting the most out of car, just the way she sits :D

Apten Performance has been porting 03-04 Mustang Cobra superchargers for quite a while with 35-45 hp gains. I contacted them right after I got my Redline, but the guy was a jerk, and wanted me to get another supercharger and send it to them before they'd do me the favor of spending their time on our worthless vehicles...

Considering my line of work (both of them) and the contacts I have, it was damned well disheartening.

A huge bump for ^this^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes PLENTY of sence ;)

Guys.....think in terms of air velocity and efficiency!! **** with that and you'll destroy HP instead of making it!

If anything, ONLY POLISH the interior of the supercharger, ESPECIALLY if you plan to do nothing else to the engine like cam change or head porting, or both!
It's ALL about air velocity efficiency.....NOT just about CFM increases along with blind knowledge! So, if anything, JUST have the SC POLISHED (not ported) to remove casting in the ports....this is pretty safe and adds efficiency of air-flow velocity, rather than actual port volume. I say this because I doubt many (if any) of you will be cahnging cams and porting heads along with this mod.

FYI - an engine with mismatched cfm efficiency (between the cams, head, SC and exhaust etc) is about as useful as tits on a poll!

The port work Apten, and a few others, (so don't rely just on them go browse a dew Mustang or Lightning websites....I'd suggest ModularDepot.com) are doing is actually machining extra openings in the discharge of the blower. Now, that MP62 is tiny compared to the M112's the Cobras and Lightnings are running so I don't know if you'd make quite the same gains. No such thing as polishing the inside of that case though....tolerances are extemely close and there would be nothing to gain to compare to the trouble you'd go through. I'd definately look into it though...looking at the info I have on that particular supercharger there won't be much a pully can do. Better to look into aftermarket heat exchangers, tuning, cams, and maybe a little nitrous. I'd suggest water/methonal injection but I've heard problems with blower seals being eaten from methonal mixtures...or maybe it was the teflon coatings...

If you are refering to the M62 in ou cars there are a few 2 to 3 psi increase pullies floating around and Psi-Fi is preparing to release a pulley that has been on their RL shop car for a month or so. They are running 18 psi (12 psi is stock) with larger injectors and a piggyback computer. I have sat down and done some math on the M62 and there is alot of room to play with.

The Laminova A2W intercooler in our cars stock is in the area of 80% efficency, not much room for improvement there minus a larger CCHE and larger pump, possibly an ice box but the stock set up is very good. Comp Cams has cams right now and no one here (that I know of) has used the juice yet. Opening up the blower has made gains in other roots style blowers I can't see why it would not produce some kind of gain with the M62 that we are running.

Oh it would...but not the same type of gains. And at I realize the Laminova unit has to be efficient....at 12 psi those cars already run the discharge temps on that blower are 190+ F. That's why I said the exchanger...not the intercooler. Look into the Afco unit for the Lightnings and Cobras....something like that. 18 psi is pushing it...hell the M112 is a furnace at that pressure so I'd excpect the M62 to be similar. Need to lobby for a twin screw from Whipple of KB... :D Is the pump the same Bosch unit that Ford uses...might want to check those...more than enough flow.
