Any of you guys ever see this stuff? I called my local installer today to get a price quote. He told me they had two kits. The basic kit which covers the lower parts of the front bumper and the leading edge of the hood for $500 and change. The other kit covers the entire bumper and 4 inches from the leading edge of the hood as well as the edges of the fenders for about $700. He told me that they will cover the whole car if I want lol. I am thinking about having my whole bumper and hood covered. If I am gonna have the car for the long term it seems to me like a good investment not to have any rock chips. Also I am getting a fresh paint job on my front bumper do to a bad prep job from the factory and pealing paint.

that is a good idea if u plan to have car a while! and no yellowing :p thats a plus lol ide be pissed!
I've looked into this stuff, here in Dayton. 3M protective film. Groovy lookin stuff, if you have the cash! Those prices sound about right. The only problem that I have is that when I spoke to an installer, he said that since I had the silver Ion, that I might notice a difference in the shade. Not everywhere on the car, but in the areas that were treated. I tried my best to pump out of this guy exactly what he was trying to describe, to no avail. It seems that I'm guessing that in these treated areas, one might see a slight darkining of the paint. Or perhaps a difference in shine, which would suck! Either way I'd rather do a little more home work before dropin loot like that on something that might be detrimental to the cars overall appearance. For now, it's touch-up paint and a hell of a lot of wax!

I've used the film on my Matrix and it works great. It's barely noticable. On the downside, it started to turn yellow after two years and I had to have it redone. Make sure you get a good warranty against yellowing if you decide to buy it.
Oh Yeah...

I work for a digital printing company called Agio Imaging. We use this stuff all the time, we use the 3m ConTrol Tak quite often, its what we print on for vinal coverings for semi trucks and industrial type trucks. There are a lot of vehicle based vinal products that can be used, and are completely safe for the finish on vehicles.

The best part is, if I decided to get some vinal done, I can create my own, email it to one of the design guys, and covertly print it since I run the printer, lol. Yeah, its great.
