AND WON!!!!

Now, I know what you guys are thinking so let me just tell you the story first.


I bolted away from a light today. All of a sudden, this new, maroon mustang GT blows by me reving his engine and then slows down. By this time I bolted by him because I was trying to catch up.

I'm about 100 feet in front of him and slow down to 40 mph and wait. As soon as we are dead even with each other I pop her in second and the race is on. The guy could not completely pull away from me. The furthest behind I fell was my front bumper at about the forward section of his passenger side door but then caught back up to his front end quickly. I looked over at him and I wish I could have snapped a picture of the look on his face. :p

He let off his throttle at about 100 to 105. I stayed on mine and went up to about 120. I win!!!

Now I realize that from a dig, he would have smoked my ass. Butt from a roll THIS GUY did not though. He probably either sucked at driving or maybe had an automatic but I know for sure he didn't have the balls to stay with it. I'll chalk that as a win, thank you. ;) :D

He challenged me and didn't have the balls to go all the way. I know the scenerio would probably have been different if he did.

What the hell. A win is a win, right? :cool: LOL!!!

nice kill, wish you had a vid to prove because this thread is going to fill up quick with they run 13.X stock and yada yada, it's a drivers race, i've lost to a car that i should've beat because i mis-shifted, so it can go both ways.

Here's how I see it:

It takes balls to race. If you don't have the balls to go all the way with it, don't go around reving your engine at people.

That's what his loss boiled down to.

Six cylinder or eight? You can tell by the number of exhaust tips.

Either way it's kill.

No one want's to race me, so it's an easy kill everytime.

It was a GT (had the badge). I believe those only come w/ 8 cylinders unless they changed something for '05.

Couldn't tell you about exhaust tips. I didn't see his car's ass end long enough to get a good look. :D

The GT's are easy to tell apart now. The GT's have the two big xtra lights in the grill, the V-6's don't.

Exactly. I've raced several V6 stangs both old and the new models and there is NO contest. I smoke the shit out of them everytime. I couldn't pull away from this dude until he let off.

what lights?

the 99-01 gt's & v-6's both had the clear headlamps. gt's have foglights, but they are availble on the v6.

the 02-04 gt's & v6's both have the smoked headlamps. again, gt's come with foglights, and it's optional on the v6.

I've racerd 3 99-04 GT's. Beat them all from a kickdown (roll).
Off the line is different, I can hope to keep only a car and half's length between us, till we hit about 70-80 when i slowly creap.

Mustang GT's can run 13.9 (mustang fans say 13.8). The only thing is, that's at the track. We're talking about on the street, where you don't get you nice little pre-stage in a water box. Eat me.

alas the stangs are RWD which helps as well

and acutally, you LOST because he was in the lead(barely) and let off, which means he quit while he was ahead, and you lose, atleast thats how it goes around here

or if you were completely even, its a tie

no reason to run up to 120 when you have been going for 60 MPH pretty much dead even

the mustang would only pull away from you the higher you get into the gears

Not necessarily, as our power increases the higher you rev, whereas his power peak is going to be much lower so revving higher for him won't yield him more power.

But still, a new gt stang will beat us. Aren't they low 13 second cars?

They are a high 13 second car. Probably low 13 second with some good traction and driver. Anyways, if he was ahead of you when he shut down he won. Sorry, the whole I went faster so I won is more of a ricer mentality. Not calling you a ricer. Just saying, if a car is equally matched no one will pull on each other. So the person with the top speed governor wins. Pretty pointless...

Hmmmm...........can a marathon runner who is ahead of the pack just quit 3/4 into the race and claim a win because he "quit while he was ahead"?

We'll never know now because he let off early. :eek:

If I was the guy in the stang, I would have shown this pesky little saturn what was up and handed him his ass. Especially if I wasn't pulling from him at first and had the ability to do so later. No way in HELL I would have let off during that close of a race.


Look, I'm not saying the RL is faster than the '05 GT, because Lord knows, it ain't. I was just telling you guys the story. I was pretty impressed that he was not able to pull on me like I thought he was going to do.

worst analogy ever


its street racing, whenever the person winning quits, the race is over, unless you prearrange the details at an earlier time

I am with shen, that is a ricer mentality, welcome to the world or ricer flybys

v8's almost always have better topend b/c they have the torque to turn the larger gears, the little amount of boost we get will not you take down a new stang

they are mid-low 13 sec cars with a good driver, and on the highway w/o launching, thats V8 territory right there, or HIGH BOOST FWD turbocars


some people just DONT like to go over 100 MPH on public roads and I cannot blame them one bit. racing or not
