Road & track srt-4 vs red line

they did a side by side comparison between our cars in there road test edition. all in all it was a pretty good article overall score the srt-4 only beat us by .9 points i think if they tested it with a redline with the comp package we would have came out on top. the srt-4 took us on all of strait line speed tests but the redline owned all of the handling, braking test. with both cars there 1320 times where slow 14.5 for the srt-4 and 14.8 for the redline. We are diffentaly coming up in the world they said the redline would trounce on everything in it's price range except the srt-4

can u post a link?...i would like to see the whole article...thanks in advance. :)
it's not on there site, i went to the book store today and say it and picked it up it's a new issue
wow, another positive article about a crap car.... j/k, i love my car, and it's good to see it get some more good press.

We need upgrades GM, then you'd sell WAY more. not everyone wants to mod the car if it'll void warranties, but they'll do it if you back it, which means more $$$ in your pockets...
Is this a current issue of R&T? I seem to remember another such test between the two, but that was like half a year ago.

I think it would have been an even better comparision between the redline
with the comp package and the srt4 with the acr setup. :D
why is that, the only performance enhancing item in the competition package is the LSD which is stock on an SRT

doesn't the ACR setup include suspension components and smaller wheels, etc.?

yes, the acr is basically a track prepped car.
I was just following the orginal posters line of thought, " if " the redline had
the comp package, with " if " the srt had the acr package.

all factory options right? :D
I've heard of the ACR package for the SRTs, but what does that change on them? Is it mainly a suspension package, or is it more?

i hear ya on that, but it'd be nice to see what they'd do if an lsd were in the redline. hopefullly GM will come with a suspension upgrade package like the acr package.

i just cannot wait until we start to see some real performance out of these cars, it's exciting if you ask me. i'm sure it was the same way with the SRT at the beginning, though i didn't follow them much

it's there annual road test issue, the only thing that i didn't really like about it was how the writers kept refering the fast and furious and using the words street cred intirely too much. the way it was written they seemed to be more biased twords the srt-4 but ours cars spoke for them selves and they couldn't ignore the areas were the redline shined

not too much.

front and rear sway bars.
mopar struts and spings
16x7 wheels

here's a link for the finite info.
http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/sedans/0505_dodge_srt4_acr/

$1195 for acr package
$3500 for stage 3

not a bad pair of mods for the autox heads out there.
See less See more
Not at all! I would think putting that much power into the SRT would make it hard on an autox track though. I see that there is a definite 'power curve' for a good autox car. Not too much, not too little... Those Neons have been pretty good at the small courses for the last few years though....
Here is a nice artice on the Redline from Road and Track. I'm sure most of you have seen it, for thoes who have not here it is.....

That sure sounds like the article that came out at the begining of the year in the Annual Road Test, used that mag to pic the RL! Could it be that it's an old mag that they just keep on the shelf 'cuz it's "special"?
I remember that article from last year and it DID seem kind of biased to me too. They gave the Dodge and the Ion the same rating for fuel economy but when you look at the "observed" economy the Ion gets better MPG. Also to rate the Dodge better looking by as many points as they did over the Ion doesn't make sense to me unless they gave the Dodge extra points for the hood scoop and for looking like a smiley face. I think they reverse engineered the test. Decided that they liked the Dodge better for its straight line performance and just fixed the points to reflect it.
I also remember that article from a while before, I actually did a comparison essay for my English 1101 class....got an A!!!
Ya that article was from last year, sorry i didnt mentiont that. I dont know if that is the same as the new one johnboy is taking about. I am going to go find the current issue of R&T and see if its in there. JOHNBOY what month is that article you are reffering to is in?
