Then on top of that 200 odd dollar gauge, you also have to buy the sensor module and remote for $190. The Competition Package gauge is an Autometer. I've got a pic of it saved, I'll post it later.Sp00ner said:

If you look at the pic of the gauge back there again, on the sides of the gauge are rows of LEDs. The LEDs are like a staging tree, they go from green, to yellow, to red, like a complicated shift light. I could be wrong on any of the specifcs there, but that's the jist of it. Assuming that the LEDs aren't as slow as the standard tach, it's neat, at the very least. The fact that it's high enough, and hopefully bright enough, to see out of the corner/bottom of your eyes, could be pretty useful.MrCleanY0 said:what's the ladder tach you're talking about sp00ner?
I'm wondering the same. If they are available now, that's awesome.all4glh said:Is that yours or did you find the pic somewhere on the WWW??
It's not currently in my possession. My Dad works at the Saturn plant and brought it home to show me. This one is actually a pre-production unit that had a problem with one of the LEDs being brighter than all the others. My Dad is trying to come up with some factory wiring so we can see if I can make it work in my car.all4glh said:Is that yours or did you find the pic somewhere on the WWW??
Not sure on that one.jpapa said:Anyone have any idea what the 3 dials adjust?
3 lights and 3 adjustment knobs.jpapa said:Anyone have any idea what the 3 dials adjust?
I'm not saying it looks bad, but you were talking about 'clean' looks. Neither of them is really a clean look, but the stock one is cleaner. That's all!Steviepc7 said:spooner ill show u when we meet i bet ull be like oh dood that shits tight!
If not, an aftermarket boost gauge is one of the easiest guages to install. I'm sure the quaife LSD will still fit.GaRsNoW said:WTF!!!! the comp package cannot be hooked up on 04's???????????
Signals, is your dad allowed to tell you when they actually start production on the Red Lines again, especially ones with the Comp. Package? And aren't you lucky, he gets to take home 'broken' parts that won't get used so that you can use them. Lucky!Signals said:My Dad works at the Saturn plant and brought it home to show me.

I've been told several times that the wiring harness is different for the two packages. My guess, is that the wiring harness for the comp package, includes the circuits for the ladder tach, and boost gauge. Is the boost hookup on it electical or mechanical? Same with the wiring harness, it's probably part of the headlight circut in the comp package, that way you can't leave the foglights on it. That's what they told me when I bought mine, about the foglights anyway. They said the regular Ion's have a different wiring harness, and the foglamps need that harness to 'hook right in', they said you could install them, but you would either have to tap into the existing one, or install a seperate circuit and remember to turn off the foglights seperate from the headlights.JPK said:What do you mean? I'm sure the parts will fit. They probably mean you cannot take your '04 in and have the comp package installed on it for the same price as buying brand new.
Like I said, I'm sure all of the parts will fit, but the price is gonna dig deep into the wallet.
