I don't know if anyone noticed but his header is showing as available on his site. I noticed that the title of the dyno sheet window is "This header requires the removal of the air injection system". Anyone know what that is/means?

Look at the title bar of the window that opens up when u open the dyno chart.

That must mean it requires a Short Ram Intake or some other mods as in removal of the airbox. I just cannot see that much improvement with the stock intake. There is just too much restriction with the small hoses under the fender-well.

Nevermind, I figured it out. "An air injection system forces fresh air into the exhaust ports of the engine to reduce HC and CO emissions. The exhaust gases leaving an engine can contain unburned and partially burned fuel. Oxygen from the air injection system causes this fuel to continue to burn. The major parts of the system are the air pump, the diverter valve, the air distribution manifold, and the air check valve."

Well thats terrible! How can it be emissions approved?? I know for a fact that you can't slap that thing on in Chicago, let alone California. That's the reason that people with good 'ol fashioned musclecars are always fighting emissions. If he's gonna make a street legal header, I would assume that he needs that on there, particuarly with a rich-running supercharged engine. No? Edelbrock has been making headers that have the A.I.R injection system for emissions regulated cars for a long time. I know he's trying real hard, but dosen't this seem like a problem for emissions controlled states??

Doh! Fixed.

The ECOTEC doesn't have AIR injection, only the S-Series does.
It's 100% an HTML copy and paste mistake.
I duplicated the S-series pop-up Window and didn't modify the Title field.
The 1999.5 and later S-Series Saturns have AIR injection and the SCdyne Supercharger header doesn't have provisions for it. AND NO the S-series header is not legal for street use. The S-series has a close coupled pre-cat and the header removes it all together.. NOT Legal..

Mind you NONE of this relates to the ECOTEC.
It does have a close coupled cat, but the header for the RedLine goes in place of the stock manifold and has no impact on the cat. In fact the 304 stainless the header is made out of is more efficient at lighting up the cat quicker because it retains heat better than a cast manifold does.

The ECOTEC does however have EGR and that is kept in the head flange of the header like the stock manifold. It's routed out of the surface that mates to the head so EGR works all the same.

Cool, makes a little more sense. I also was trying to remember seeing an A.I.R system on the manifold when I changed my filter. Didn't think there was one. Cool.
